Hellllllo Health FDMB. I posted this condo in Lantus Land this morning and thought I'd post it here as well -
The rundown is, my kittycat is a stinker and LOVES to pee on stuff that he thinks belong to him, everything from our bed, to every rug in the house, his toys, and any kitty bed or sleeping surface he's ever had. I have tried EVERYTHING, gallons of Nature's Miracle and Feliway...
Pretty much the only way I can stop him from doing it is to lock him in the kitchen with his LB and absolutely nothing to sleep on. He also loves to pee on the DBF's stuff when he doesn't pick up after himself :-D
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!

This really sounds like a marking problem. If you have ruled out a concurrent UTI, I would start talking to your vet about kitty prozac. There is a set of drugs that work like prozac that have worked wonders with some cats with issues like this.

I've done most of the obvious, such as using CatAttract litter, a clean litterbox without a hood, clean it 2xdaily, etc. It's just for some reason when I do not shut him in the kitchen with his LB at night, he WILL eventually pee on the couch, on his toys on the floor, in our bed if he gets in our room, clothes in the closet, pretty much whatever.
He has a prescription for the kitty prozac but I had mixed feelings about giving it to him. It just does not seem natural to me -- and I know that seems hypocritical since I take care of his chronic FD which is a condition induced by a totally unnatural lifestyle and diet, but giving a cat an antidepressant? :? I just wasn't sure...
Ann, I think he is around 10 years old, and I have had him for 3 years. He has done it ever since I've had him and I don't know his history pre-shelter.

My Gustav does this also ever since I got him at 6 months old age, 16 years ago. Besides the bed and couch, but I reckon he will start with that now when he is older and can't hold the bladder long enough for the bathroom. But I knew about Gustav's peeing on things problem when I got him, anything he doesn't think should be on the floor he pees on. By the age of 6 months when I got him, he had already been passed around to 5 homes, and the one I got him from said he only peed on guy's clothes ..... he still does that :-D But he pees on towels, carpets, christmas tree carpet, etc and recently in a bag standing on the floor where I had a quilt I had used at a horse event, I guess the horse smell on the quilt wasn't of his liking. He pees in his carrier too if he has been admitted to the vet, then he refuses to pee while admitted, and instead pees in his carrier not waiting to come inside the door at home.
For Gustav I have it down to that he doesn't like unclean lb, it has to be spotless clean all the time (I have Simba using it too), and that Gustav doesn't like guys, and that he just want a tidy floor empty of things.

And one of our little rescue girls (captured as wild babies at age 2 months) started with this in her fosterhome in April this year when she was circa 8 months old, peeing right where she was at all over the apartment, even on the couch once. But when I was baby sitting her and her sister June 30 to July 14 now during the summer now when they were 1 yr old, I had expected her to pee all over the apartment, but she went on the lb's like a little angel. The only thing I noticed in comparison to my Simba and Gustav, was that these girls have very small bladders, and went on the loo much more often to pee small amounts, instead of only a few times a day. I think they went every hour and small pees. But for two weeks she didn't pee at my place, but only a few days after having gone back to the foster home, she started with peeing on the floor there again. I think she pees like that because she has a small bladder and that there really is something in the fosterhome which she don't quiet like. Will see if I am right since the girls are coming back to me to stay another two weeks in end august to september, and if she pees here then too.

Julius pees in our dining room. If I put the box there and it is immaculate he still pees elsewhere. I gave him an antidepressant, can't remember which one. It definitely helped. However when he had diabetes we decided to stop because we were already testing him multiple times a day and doing the shots too.. it just became a little much. I have done feliway too, and it didn't work. He was neutered at 3 yrs old so he figured out how to spray before we got him and no matter what he does that too. I would be interested in if anyone on here has a solution. We have to wash towels with pee on them all the time, but I put them down because otherwise he pees on the carpet.
