... And Blackie continues to do well without insulin, thanks to the good folks on here. :) I've updated her SS, and can't believe that it's been over a month now. She's had 1 day where she was a bit high, but she soon flattens out again. She's had some pancreatitis flareups, but I keep her meds on hand for that... Still has neuropathy, incontinence (which I'm still cleaning up). Still watching her weight, especially more now that I have a job working at Walmart, which I started last Tuesday. The schedule I'm on is challenging to say the least with regards to feeding her. There have been a few days where she wasn't getting fed at all... Nobody was. I can't leave any food down as the others would get to it, and due to her neuropathy, and probably arthritis now, she doesn't lower her head. I discussed getting those metal bowls that are in a holder for her, and then leaving her in the office where there's puppy pads, and 2 LB's, but hubby was against it, and thought it wasn't fair to lock her up when we're both not here. This past weekend, he tried in vain to get her to eat, but I know her.. She won't eat for him, if anything. As soon as I got home, she ate. I'm pretty sure she senses his frustration, and impatience. He simply told me yesterday that he doesn't know how I do it. I just do it. LOL In a nutshell... She's still with us, and as long as she continues to eat and drink, she's telling me that she's not ready, which is a very good sign. I'll know when it's time. It's not now, thank the good Lord. :)

I hope that everyone is doing well, and I hope that many more kitties can join Blackie at the green lagoon!

Sending tons of healing vines, positive thoughts, and prayers to whoever needs them.

MY WISH: For God to help those ailing to make a full and speedy recovery... For God to help heal the broken hearts of those that lost a beloved pet and/or human... For everyone, including Blackie, to continue to have wonderful numbers... For everyone, including Blackie, to be permanently OTJ.

Morning Angela :coffee::coffee::coffee:

How good to hear from you, and that Blackie is doing so well. Has it really been a month? It seems like just yesterday. Looking great Blackie!

Congrats on your new job. I so remember how challenging it can be when one works, and still needing to maintain our kitties schedules, fuds included. Good luck. :)

I've been thinking of you and I'm glad Blackie is doing well. That is wonderful that you have a new job. Hopefully your DH will learn how to feed her.

Thanks, Michelle. :) Yeah, it's challenging, and frankly, I don't know how anyone can work and still give insulin, but I know that most of you do it. Consider where we live, it wasn't feasible for me to work, and give Blackie insulin daily, and now with my conflicting schedule, it definitely wouldn't have worked. My shifts, so far, are from 8:30-5:30, 9:00-6:00, and Wednesday I'll be starting at 1:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., Thursday is 11:30-8:30 (or it could be from 11:00-8:00, but not sure), and Friday is 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. So, you see how it would never have worked. The extra $$, however, is definitely needed, and I keep telling Blackie that this will help with her meds, etc. Not sure if she really understands that, but I do know she's happy that I've got some time off. :D

Elise, I highly doubt it. He's an impatient man when it comes to feeding her, and she senses it. Plus, he complains about his back whenever he gets down on the floor to feed her. I gave him an alternative feeding place to try out, but not sure if he's even tried it yet. I just shake my head and tell him to keep trying. LOL

I'm glad to hear that you and Blackie are hanging in there!

For what it's worth, I wouldn't worry about shutting her in a room while you're gone, especially if it helps protect her food. Most cats just sleep all day anyway, so I'm sure she would be fine. I have always kept my foster cats separated when I'm not home, and they are happy to see me when I get back, but they're ok. Usually they are still stretching like they just woke up. LOL!

It's good to hear from you. I'm glad Blackie is doing so well. I hope she will start eating while you're at work.

I am over the moon for you and Blackie. I know as you look back on your Insulin Journey you probably never thought you would get there. It is so good to know that even kitties that have been on insulin a very long time still have the potential to go OTJ.

I'm glad to hear that Blackie is doing well.:D It is thanks to you that she is now OTJ. You have done a very good work!

Hi Angela,
I'm so glad that Blackie is doing well OTJ and getting along with her other "issues". She is a remarkable kitty.
Great that you have a new job! But that is certainly a demanding schedule! I'd need a personal secretary to keep track of the days and hours!!:)

Have a good evening,

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
