Hey all! I'm glad to say that we've (Dainty and I) haven't needed the sound advice of this forum in little under a year after a two year battle with diabetes! But now we've run into an interesting stump of a question. Dainty has been OTJ for the past 11months, she gets checked every other week or so as a precaution and at all times her levels have stayed under 50, even after a move. Recently however, her urination has increased as has her appetite she's also not losing any weight or I would assume it was a thyroid issue. Could these be signs of her diabetes resurfacing?

I'd test her enough to get a sense of what her numbers are like. Maybe before and after eating - does she go up after eating? How much? Maybe midycle to see if the numbers go down or up? The more info you have, along with eliminating any chance of infection raising the levels, the better decisions you can make.

Excess urination may also be the starting signs of a renal problem - infection, stones, interstitial cystitis, insufficiency.

Does her breath smell at all like urine? That might point towards renal insufficiency.

Is the output volume many small amounts? That might point towards stones, infection, or cystitis.
- Any allergies too? That might point towards the cystitis if the above is true.

Is the output volume copious? Points towards a return of diabetes (check for glucose/ketones in urine) or renal insufficiency or hyperthyroidism among others.
