Hi everyone,
Sorry this is a little late. But I want to share the good news that Beau has been officially OTJ since 6/9/12!!!
I want to thank the forum and everyone here for your support in helping me and Beau through this journey since his diagnosis on 7/16/11. It has not been easy taking care of him on my own for the past 11 months, with endless sleepless nights and frustration as my constant companion. But I am so thankful I did not give up even though there were many times I felt I couldn't go on. But like everything else in life I just took it one day at a time. My family and friends have been praying for Beau for a very long time and I truly believe his healing is a miracle from God. His numbers literally stabilized overnight since Good Friday and continued to improve until ultimately becoming OTJ.
I want to encourage those of you who are struggling to regulate your kitty to try front loading when all else fails. As with everything else here, every cat is different, but it's worth a try. Front loading is basically feeding small meals in the beginning of the cycle to ease the drop in BG for those kitties who tend to dive and bounce. I honestly didn't think Beau was a diver, though he sure was a bouncer, but I turned to front loading when nothing else seemed to work in regulating him and it seemed to help. You can search to find examples of other front loaders and their experiences. I fed Beau his main meals at amps and pmps and his snacks at +2 and +3.
Question: for those of you whose kitties are OTJ, how are you feeding your kitties? I'm still doing main meals at 7:30am/pm with snacks at 10 and 11am/pm but want to know if I should spread it more evenly throughout the day?
