So Bear is repeating yesterday's BG drops and ravenous hunger but earlier in a larger way.

I need food ideas for nutrients and carbs.

Since Bear isn't very carb sensitive and I have been feeding the curve with 5% Pates I am not getting a rise in BG.

I have tried a multitude of Natures Variety Instinct Grain free 18.9% and he only likes the sauce or gravy and I would like him to also get the protein from the meat. I have squished the meat up with low results.

I have also tried quite a few Natural Balance Grain free 9% and up with the same results.

Both of these brands are from Petsmart but I am willing to order online or travel an hour to Petco.

If you are wanting to bump up numbers, the "gravy" is where the carbs are. It's better if you're giving him the gravy and if he's not eating the solids, that's fine. You don't want him to get full if he's eating the solids. If he gets full and you still need to get his numbers up, it's likely he won't eat. Or, if he does eat, he may get so full that he vomits. Neither of these situations are good if numbers are low.

It looks like whatever you fed Bear on 4/8 worked fine to get him out of the 40s. Feeding the curve with LC food is meant to slow things down and flatten out the curve a bit so there's not a steep drop.

A different option is to add something like a drop or two of honey to Bear's food. Many people also use Karo (corn) syrup but if Bear needs to be on a grain free diet, any corn product may not be ideal.

Opps, I forgot to put that on his SS but I did put it on his daily post.

This is what I fed that curve with:
+3 fed 1oz 6% (240BG)
+4 fed 0.5oz 18% (159BG)
+5.25 fed 0.5oz 18% (98BG)
+6.25 20units honey (48BG)

When Bear is on a mission with momentum honey is all I've found that brings some results.

Bear hates honey and syrup thus I have to use a syringe for consumption.

After I showed our Vet his SS with logs of food fed during a low event she was surprised and puzzled so she gave me a vial of dextrose to use,

Problem with that is I don't have syringes with a removable needle.

I want to find some MC food to incorporate into Bear's daily diet as an experiment to see if I can get better results feeding the curve.
That is why I want to find MC with nutritional value that he will like enough to eat possibly daily dependent on how his BG levels react.

I believe the honey worked so well that day was because he was possibly hitting his nadir at 6.25.
At other times honey has only moved his BG 10 to 15 points average.

You may be able to buy a blank syringe at a pet store or online. I just looked on Amazon -- search "oral medicine syringe" -- they have lots!

You can make a sugar solution. Equal parts sugar and water. Boil! Amazon also has powdered and liquid dextrose.

Keep in mind that with honey, dextrose, etc., it may be a matter of quantity. Gabby was sensitive to gluten so I didn't give her "gravy" -- I used honey or Karo. I only needed a drop or two in most cases. If her numbers were being stubborn, either more (quantity) or more frequent intervention worked.
