Hi there FD friends. Nothing really new with Baxter. I don't want to say much because soon as I do he will start with something crazy that I won't be able to figure out. @-)

This is where we are this morning...
AMPS-275-.8

I hope everyone is doing well. I will be back around later today.

IMHO, Jenn, you have Baxter in good, healthy numbers and are managing his diabetes beautifully. I don't know if he will ever go OTJ, but if he (and you) wake up every morning feeling good, in general, about this disease and how he is doing with it, that is no small thing. Hard to hear that plugging along is a good thing, but I think it truly is.

Sue thank you. I rather have him consistently in a good place if remission isn't ever going to happen. I have come to except the fact it might never happen for us. I think we missed our window of opportunity. We did have the 3 weeks right after DX of no insulin. So I got a short taste of how sweet that feeling is of OTJ.

Robin....I owe you a huge thank you! If it weren't for you I truly don't want to imagine where we would be....diffently not in a happy place. So thank you, thank you!

Maybe with being regulated for awhile we will start to see green? I don't know if it works that way, but it's something I'm will always hope for.

Thank you my FDMB friends.

Hi Jenn, thanks but I didn't do anything special except to help show you the ropes and you took it from there and have done a great job.

Regulation is the goal and remission is the brass ring.

I think that Baxter can get to greens again. We just have to work at it.

Robin

I hope we see green again. Today we got closer.
+11-149
+11.5-153

I don't think I did the right thing tonight. Actually, I felt like what I did was to risky or dangerous.

I needed to give insulin 1 hr early tonight. Which put him at +11-149. I was ready to leave & not so patient DH was waiting. We had dinner plans with friends. I really didn't want to wait until I got home to give insulin that would have put Baxter at +18. Since I work now it's kind of important I stay on our timing schedule. I gave him food & waited. Tested him at +11.5-153 not much of a rise. I really wasn't sure what to do & didn't have time to post. At this point DH had already called our friends & explained we would be late. I keep thinking how I didn't want him to go a long period of time without thinking he was bound to rise. I ended up giving him very skinny .2. Yes, I worried the whole time I was at dinner. Its all I could think about. I did leave food for him when I left. When I got home he and eaten some of the food at some point. I don't know when. So I'm guessing all of his test will be Willy Wonka.
+6-234
I'm really not sure I did right. Expect not cause a hypo. What should I have done?

I always figure, as you did, that when there are no perfect options, you go with the one that seems safe. Low dose + food is a good choice. And it looks like it worked out fine.

I think it was a good call Jenn - Baxter always likes to do that to you... and I know that feeling at dinner when you're itching to know how he's doing! Will check in with you soon.

I think you made a good call, Jenn. Low dose - food - staying on schedule - and not keeping people who don't understand waiting too long ;-) And, since you don't know when he ate the food, the +6 could be food inflated 'cuz maybe he had just eaten right before you got home

Take care -

Libby (and Hershey, too!)

Thank you everyone for your input. I feel better knowing what you think. In the future I will feel better about making this kind of decision. Of coarse this will happen again. Let's see..I have my big birthday party next month & a wedding. So Baxter will be pulling tricks on me for sure. I just need to stay one step ahead in this game.

Leave it to Mr. Baxter to stir the pot! He'll be there with bells on for your party (I hope it's at your house!), and inviting all his kitty friends to come and sneak some cake too! Whatever you do, don't post pictures of it, or you'll have kitties swarming all over your house!!!
