Today is a new day!! So glad yesterday is behind us.
Tuesday 4/3
AMPS-162-.2
+2-164
+4-152
+6-177
+8-258
+10-255

PMPS-+11.5-253-.4
+4-140
My sliding scale says to give .2. Let's see if we get some green. Safe green.

Wednesday 4/4

AMPS-279-.4
No testing today.
PMPS-255-.5
+3-215

My scale say to give .6 for the 250 range. I went with .5 because I wasn't sure if it's ok to jump from giving .3 & .4 to giving .6. When working with the sliding scale does it matter that there is such a increase? I will be testing tonight.

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

+2-164

I'm not going anywhere today so I am going to be running some test.

Safe green, safe green.

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

Well, the cycle is an accomplishment because challenged your comfort level and if that +6 doesn't show much a change then you at least know the .2u into 160 will hold his BG flat and adjust from there. Not a loss at all!

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

+8-258

He has sky rocketed in the last 2 hours.
Ok so what does all of this mean. We started so well this morning. Gave what I thought would be just the right amount of insulin to bring him into green. So is .2 to much into 160 range or not enough?

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

When did he eat? I try not to let Hershey eat within 3 hrs of testing. Was he upset during this testing time or even a little before it? That does seem like a big jump...did you retest?

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

No food. I put his food up @ +6 & he had been with me the whole time. So I know he didn't have access to food. He acted hungry @ +6 & I didn't give him anything. I just gave him a little food @ +8 like a tbsp. he didn't eat all of that.

I didn't retest it. I will test again @ +10

Baxter never really gets or acts grumpy. He never really talks except in the morning he says hi to me. It's a short meow.

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

It's just not enough. This is at least the third cycle where you've tried that .2u and the other two were flat...good flat, in the blues, but still flat. I know you're trying to get him in remission, so next time push a little harder. .3u .

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

hi Jenn
I am in agreement that .2 just is not enough...
I agree on the push a little harder!
but he still had a great day

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

Baxter ROCKS!!! Look at all those pretty blues on your spreadsheet!!!

I don't offer much dosing advice, but I agree w/ Cathy & Denise... looks like you might need to kick it up just a notch to shave those last few numbers off. WOW!!! I've looked at his spreadsheet before, but apparently it didn't register that he was doing THIS good!

Great job Jenn!

cat(2)_steam oops... gotta run!

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

Thanks everyone for those words.
Just this afternoon I was thinking....things are never going to get better.
Its hard to see the improvement yourself. When other people look at it & point it out..then I'm like oh ok things must be getting better. It picks me up!

+10-255

I have to shot 30 minutes early tonight. Then I will be 30 minutes early in the morning. I'm going to keep the 7:00 schedule through the weekend. We have something on fri & sat night so 7:00 schedule will be good.

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

Looking at you ss and scale, I think you could actually go up a notch on the first 3 doses. You're getting great cycles as is, and they are amazing if you just want Baxter to be well regulated. But you're not getting long strings of low blues or the greens you need to go OTJ. Nothing dangerous has been happening on those cycles either, so I wouldn't be concerned with a .1 increase on your 3 lowest tiers. Scale would be .3, .4, .5, .6, .7 rather than .2, .3, .4, .6, .7

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

Thank you so much. I am going to get all noted & updated his SS tonight.

My goal is not regulation it's remission. Regulation is good & I like that, but i really would like a remission, just like everyone else. Actually, maybe now is the time for me to fly back home to see my breast cancer sister since he is regulated. DH could just dose him. He doesn't want to test him. I don't know just thinking out loud. I need to figure all that out.

Baxter hasn't had any green in a long time. You are right it's blue, but not low blue & really not surfing. The extra notch would I hope push him to the lower safe point. Baxter has done pretty good in the since of not going to a dangerous low. We had 1 time in the beginning within the first 2 wks when I wasnt home testing, he was walking drunk & walked into the wall. I will never know, but what I know now, he was really low. I had also just taken him off of dry food & was giving him 1 unit. He shows signs of the pancreas working at times. I just hope the extra will be the key.

Thank you.

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

PMPS @ +11.5-253-.4

I have to shot early tonight so I can shot @ 7:00am. So I am going with .4. As of the new scale I will start it on tomorrow night. I need sleep tonight & won't be home all day tomorrow to run any test.

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

+4-140

Going to try really hard to get up in a couple of hours for one more test.

Goodnight friends! :YMHUG:

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

(140) isn't bad at all!!! I'll look in on you when I'm up dosing Hershey. Hoping to get a nap in before then, but still haven't gotten my college girl into bed, yet, had two papers to get done tonight.

Sleep well, friend!

Re: Baxter-4/3-AMPS-162

Paws and claws crossed for some good numbers.

Saw on the news all the tornadoes in Tx. Did you have any damage near you? We are due for your weather tomorrow night. YUCK!

No damage by me. The tornado were in the Dallas/Arlington area.

Today we did have some heavy rain. I felt so bad because I wasn't home to let Baxter in his " safe room" the closet. I am sure he cried & cried wanting in. I'm sure the afternoon cycle wasn't so good.

PMPS-255-.5

My sliding scale got a little tweak. It says to give .6 into 250. I wasn't sure if I should increase it so much. I have been using the sliding scale & been only giving .3 &.4.
I will be running some test tonight.

Glad you are ok. Like those ps's numbers even if you didn't get a green. Wish cooper could go lower on his ps's numbers. Just can't seem to get them down.

GOOD JOB!!!!

Glad you were safe during the storms. Poor Baxter Buddy! All alone and those mean, scary noises!

I guess I'm fortunate - most of my guys just sleep during storms. Former dog Kirby paced the entire time Hurricane Fran (1999) was looming. As soon as the big tree in my front yard fell - about 3 am - between houses and NOT on my bedroom!, we were able to go to sleep. Storms ALWAYS stressed her out. Murphy (also dog) was snug as a bug on the hide-a-bed mattress in the hallway all night! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Hope Baxter's having a good day in spite of the storms! I was in a meeting tonight as the storms rolled through here, and the power flickered several times. Didn't see any damage afterward, but I was on a mission when I left... time to shoot Grayson, then meet some friends for dinner.

Glad y'all were spared the damage I saw in the pictures from around Dallas. We didn't get the big storm they were predicting - got two smaller storms, though - but thankful not to see the winds and hail predicted! Still calling for rain overnight, but just rain. :-D I'm sure Baxter was happy to see his mama!!!!

Hope y'all have a peaceful night -

Hershey rarely drops by +3; I think the food is still with him. He often sees better movement at +4. But, hey - (215) is nothing to sneeze at!

Have a good night -

Thanks Libby.
It is probably food. So I will check him in a couple of hours. I picked up his food.

Maybe I will see you later tonight. I am going to check on you & Hershery now.

Hey, Jenn -

Just checking in on y'all. Finally have my son home for Easter break - YAY! So, we're catching up a little. Too late for a nap before shot time, so just hanging out. Should probably shoo him off to bed...

Sure hope you see some good numbers this cycle...and the next...and the next... :-D

Libby, that's good you have your family all in one spot for the holiday. I am sure you are so happy to have him home.

Going to get a test & then go to slEep. This will give me +6. I don't think I can stay up any longer.
I'm so sleepy. I-)

Yeah, I'm glad to have him home. Saturday is his (and Doug's) birthday. We're going out to eat Friday night and my older daughter and her husband are coming, too. Looking forward to it!

Well, get your test and try to get some rest. I'm sleeeeeppppyyyy, too. The kids don't get that mom is old and needs her sleep...

"See" you tomorrow -
