Well, we ended the Clavamox on Thursday and I loked back on my notes from the last Clavamox. Two days after we stopped, he had begun vomiting. So, like clockwork, Saturday morning, he vomited twice.

We began feeding him very small amounts of canned (human) chicken--frist the broth, then slowly adding chicken. He did pretty well and di not vomit again. I spot checked his BG mid-afternoon, after all our party guests had left and got 87.

He got tired of the chicken and I tried baby food. No go. Then I gave him a little Fancy Feast and he ate a bot of that.

This morning, he ate less than half of his breakfast, and that in two rounds, had no real interest in his 11am food or in the new kind of baby foodI tried. I tested him at what was a kind of *6.5, although he had had a small snack an hour before, and got 143.

Last time, we had four days of on and off vomiting and very food fussy with highish BGs at times. And it took several more weeks until his BG settled down. I hope it goes faster this time. And never agin for the Clavamox!

PS He loved fortiflora the first time, now has a take it or leave it attitude. Mostly leave it.

I'm so sorry. Poor Basil. I agree -- your kitty and Clavamox are not a good match.

Have you tried any of the other ways to entice him -- freeze dried chicken, parmesean, tuna juice? You might want to think about a 1/4 of a tablet of Pepsid AC. It might settle Basil's stomach so he'll eat.

Thanks, Sienne. And the hug was uch appreciated. I was pretty wigged out when he began vomiting, especially as my guests were all about to arrive and I was afraid it would be hard to pay attention to all the people and critters than needed me! But my son came home for the party and he made sure Basil got fed regularly. And Basil took it all so well!

I do have Pepcid for my kidney dog, already cut into 1/4 pills pieces, so I will give Basil one. Thanks, again!

Lydia, so sorry to hear how sick Basil has been and no appy. I hope the Pepcid kicks in soon, and he starts feeling better. Sending some vines for Basil and comfort for you.

I tested when I was certain he had not eaten for about 2.5 hours an got an 84 which is nice. Gave him 1/4 Pepcid and then tried to feed him after an hour or so and he ate some. He seems generally pretty purry and comfy; I just think his tummy bothers him and he wants to eat in different places from his usual as well as keeping the food rotating.

Hi Lydia,
I'm glad you had success with the pepsid and hope that Basil will continue to eat. Eating and feel better vines are on the way tonight.

And he ate nearly his full dinner tonight, with a little extra enticement. Between the kitties and the dog, I think we keep Pure Bites in business.) Not gonna get my hopes up and thin this is going to be a linear improvement. I am braced for some back sliding. But the general direction is good!
