Backup Boards, etc.

Hi Guys:

I recently posted disclaiming any "backup" boards to FelineDiabetes but realize I have misspoken. (Gee, I sound like a politician.)

There is a Feline Diabetes Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=62167000201&ref=ts to help spread the word about Feline Diabetes and to get people to come over to the FDMB. I also admit that I haven't paid as much attention to it as I should and I have no idea if hateful comments have ever been posted there. I will be more conscientious and also make it clear that I am responsible for the page. It does have the official FD logo on the page but that isn't clear enough identification. Other FB pages about Feline Diabetes are NOT associated with me or FelineDiabetes.com and FDMB.

I do go to the Feline Diabetes Yuku site occasionally and did let that be touted as a backup board when FDMB was going off line on a daily basis. However, I do NOT run that board, I do not read it, and it is not an "official" FD or FDMB backup board or site. I never anticipated that it would be perceived that way. And I have no control over what is posted there.

So, it is dawning on me that a lot of this trouble is my inattention. I apologize. And I promise that I will work harder and think twice before acting.

Oh, and reported posts are always reviewed but sometimes I think I just need to watch them which does look like "ignoring" them. I'll start to let the person who reported the thread know if I do that. More oversight on my part.

And for relatively new people, FDMB has regularly gone through disruptive cycles over the 14 years of its existence. I wish it wouldn't but maybe it is inevitable. And it is certainly a reminder that I need to be more actively involved.

Hi Rebecca!

To the best of my knowledge, there are no "official" FDMB back up boards, although there are other small FD boards like Yolly's Sweet Talk (was that what you meant by the Yuku board?) which have enough experienced sugarcat owners on board that you can always post there in an emergency if FDMB is down. That's pretty much the extent of it being "back up" ... Most members there are also very long time FDMB members, and you would all recognize the names.

On the old FDMB, with its frequent crashes, it was important to let people know where they could find some experienced FDMB members in case of emergency. Fortunately, the incidence of FDMB breakdowns seems quite reduced since the new board opened.

Hope that helps with any confusion about that.

I am also guilty of not checking my facebook page for the Catnip Cottage often. We get so busy and involved elsewhere, some things are bound to slip. Don't chide yourself too hard. Even when I am trying to be vigilant, I generally only go onto my FB page once a week or so. If I make it twice a week, it is an amazing feat!

So I guess the lesson is, folks, don't always assume we are ignoring you or don't want to accept your friend request, it just may take us a while to get there with everything else we are juggling.

For myself, sending me an email gets my attention best.
