So now my little Elektra has some sort of urinary issue. I have to go to the vet again...she's urinating tiny drops with just a tad of blood in it. Guys, I'm worried. I can barely afford it. Still paying off bills for Gypsy and Tigresses latest problems. And clearly so something is wrong. I know my vet will suggest a prescription diet. Any suggestions what could be causing this?

She is NOT thrilled to be there. She's pretty much wild so yeah...they're trying to get urine from her now.

I'm just wondering what is causing this constant problem for our cats. They're eating friskies special diet with water added...supposed to be really good for urinary issues. Maybe a different food? I just wonder because it's only been the last few months and nothing has changed...

Thanks for the link Sue. I have read it but I did again...and probably will more now as I try to figure this out. :)

I only say this because I have a 19 yo feral that will do that because of bladder stones. I've been giving her apple cider vinegar (ACV) in her food for 5 yrs and she's fine unless I forget for a few days. Found out thru a site called earth clinic that apple cider vinegar will dissolve the stones in cats, IF they will drink it. Being feral, she will eat anything. I put 1/4 cup of water, a dropper full of ACV and a couple tablespoons of canned food and mix it well. She drinks all the 'juice' off it and I throw away what's left.

Just so you know, I had a male years ago that almost died from it, so I knew the symptoms when my feral girl started having trouble. Unfortunately, I had just moved and was flat broke and if I couldn't find an answer, she was going to die. So I spent all night online until I found earthclinic and that info about ACV. I had no clue if it would work, but many people swore by it. It was worth a shot in my mind, I was penniless. It is recommended to use organic ACV, but all I had was plain ole ACV from Heinz. I started dosing her twice a day and in 3 days she had gone from green pea size urine drops to grape size. In 2 weeks she was back to normal urine output and had stopped showing blood. Twice in the last 5 years when things were hectic, I forgot about it for 3-4 days and noticed she was starting to have issues again. Before it got worse, I went back to the ACV and it clears right up. Now I give it 3 times a week and no problems.

I hope the vet can take care of your little one. Some cats repeatedly have a bladder stone issues and it can be expensive. I won't recommend using ACV, I will only tell you what I have done and what the results were. It has worked 100% for my Meow Meow. Thankfully, the other 2 haven't had the issue, since they won't go near ACV.

Thanks Deb! The vet said her blood work was great and she did have a UTI. Got some antibiotics...she's not thrilled with me right now! Luckily she didn't go postal at the vet. I'm thinking she'll feel better in a few days.

I think I will try the ACV. I looked around online after you mentioned it and there's lots of good stuff. Going to try mixing it in food. Wish me luck! We've got to do something to stop these from recurring...

I wonder if it is partly just the luck of the draw. I know some women who are just chronically prone to UTIs.. Suppose it is that something in their physical makeup is just a little different - a urethra a
little too short or too narrow or? It does seem like water added to the food should help a lot. I've not heard of the vinegar trick, Deb, but it sounds easy.

Hmmmm...could be. My cats are all literal family. So I guess it could be genetic. Ugh. Well I mixed the ACV in their food. 2 thought it was an extra treat lol. Tigress was hesitant but a few treats sprinkled on it got her eating. Hope it helps! Thanks again Deb for the hint. And thank you Sue for always being there!

ACV is like the miracle cure-all. LOL I dont know about it's use in cats, but in goats/chickens I use it a lot. It supposedly helps balance the body's pH, which can help with a lot of different things from easier breeding to urinary issues to overall health. It also helps prevent algae in water buckets... so we use it all the time.
