I last posted here in November 2011, updating about my Burmese Jimmy, who dramatically went into remission with seizures and coma, and biting his tongue so badly it was amputated. He adapted amazingly well to having literally no tongue (he learnt to extend what he had so can give you a raspy lick with the stump! ) He is now nearly 15, and remained in remission until a few days ago, when he became very sick while boarding at a vet run cattery: gas in tummy, high BUN (which has come down) very low body temp, very dehydrated, and high blood sugar.
He's ended up in a Pet hospital and is now back on 2u of insulin, as the high blood sugar hasn't dropped back to normal, so it's looking like he's a sugar cat again. At the moment he is re-hydrated, eating and drinking, pooping, weeing and demanding cuddles, so at the moment the prognosis is cautiously optimistic. He had no ketones, so that's good.
Unfortunately, myself and husband are on tour - out of the country for another 6 days. It's really stressful working while worrying about my little furry friend!
