Not sure if anyone remembers me, but in September of 2011 my cat Baby was diagnosed with feline diabetes and I received a lot of help from this board. We followed a tight regulation protocol and he was OTJ within a few months for just over a year. He went back on the juice (loose regulation) and was healthy for almost another year - until a few weeks ago, when he started acting off. Can't explain exactly what, but he just seemed not quite himself. I made a vet appointment and he went from seeming a little off the night before to not eating in the morning to lethargic that afternoon when we saw the vet. Because his condition was so poor, and because he was not in any pain, and because we were lucky enough to enjoy him for over sixteen and a half years, with the vet's blessing we opted not to do any testing and to take him home for kitty hospice. We held and cuddled him and gave him a make-a-wish walk outdoors during which he rallied and walked around and seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself. I slept with him in my arms and felt him slip away in the middle of the night.
I want to thank this board for the help I received two years ago when I was so desperate and in need of help. If not for you, we likely would not have had those extra years with our boy.
Also, on a practical note, I have a nearly brand-new vial of Lantus which I would like to donate to someone who could use it in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I posted on the board for selling/giving away insulin, but I'm not sure how much traffic it gets.
