Already syringed fed Karo & some temptation treats- now 51. How often do I need to keep checking her? This is +5. Noticed she kept laying down.

Yes-- every 15-20. If she's over 50, hold off on more food and see if she can hold the numbers on her own (but it's OK if you feed that 51-- it's very close!).

How many hours since you shot? [edit: whoops, saw that you said, +5]

Apologies for missing the time on the previous message.

Anyway, +5 is pretty well into the cycle, but you may have a few more hours where you need to be vigilant. All stocked up with strips, HC food, etc?

It was probably a full tbsp of Karo. About 15 temptations...

Prepare for liftoff! (let's hope!)

If she needs more of a boost after this, only feed a few of the temptations, and Karo (just a tsp) only if she's below 40. The reason: you don't want to fill her up too much in case you need to do this for a while, and too much of a good thing (esp. the Karo) can make them throw up, which you definitely don't want happening just now.

no naps today! For her either & this is her nap time! She’s hiding now- stinker

You're doing fantastic!!! And you've got time for her to get over her little huff over the pokes. She's probably mad because now she knows there are Temptations around and she didn't get any on the last poke!

Just so I know Kris and Nan, treating hypo the same no matter the type of insulin right?

More or less, but I think there are some different "traditions" that have become established on the different ISGs that change things like what I just posted (how to determine "all clear"). Some situations (early in the cycle, large depot with the depot insulins, especially fast drop with a harsher insulin like Vetsulin or Novalin) also require more forceful measures, so recommendations are somewhat dependent on that kind of thing.

Should I skip insulin tonight? Or test & procede as usual? 1/2 dose? I know the last one back in Sept. I didn’t give any for 24 hrs but that was the bad vet. What’s that protocol? I’ll look on Prozinc sticky
