Cathie & Baby

New Member
Baby and I are longtime members of FDMB who don't really post much anymore, mostly because my husband and I are spending a great deal of our time caring for my elderly parents and mostly because there has been not much new to post.

Baby has been diabetic for about 3 1/2 years, most of which she has been on PZI. For the last year or so, she has been getting .4u in one shot a day (yes, PZI doesn't have that duration) but there it is. Periodically she has gone for one-two weeks at a time without a shot. I still test her every evening, but she's usually in the 90-100 range (too low to shoot even the really low dose she has been on). Right now she's gone about four weeks without a shot; her longest spell ever.

She is very healthy for a 16 year old and we're glad about that. We're going to enjoy the time we have and know that it could end without warning. I'm not willing to say that she's OTJ at this point. We'll leave that option open. I just wanted to post and let you know that we are still alive. I don't know much of the crew anymore, but hope you all are doing well.

I came on tonight to post on chriscleo's thread. Cleo has passed away. Chris was one of the people who helped me the most when I first got found FDMB. I don't think Baby would be doing as well as she is without FDMB.

hi cathy, i do remember you! by the time you came my tom had gone otj in only 1 month so i was'nt posting on pzi. now 2.5 years later and we are almost a year back on pzi.
problem is...everyone here is on prozinc...it's a very very small group, and prozinc is still such a new insulin.
i wish you would hang around and contribute your wisdom as we have pitifuly few old timers.
i often wonder why my bottle of pzi (the old stuff) says right on the box in big letters prozinc pzi...i mean i wonder how different the 2 insulins are from each other if at all.
lori
and tomtom too!

Hi Cathy,
You don't know me. Squamee and I came on last year and after a few months she went OTJ. This summer she became diabetic again (steroid induced both times) and we are here on ProZinc. Last time we were greatly helped by Joanna, Terri and Bebe---and many others. Nowadays Gator and Joanna are the voices of experience (and wisdom). So glad you stopped by to say hello. Glad you guys are flirting with OTJ!

It's quite a responsibility taking care of elderly parents. My father died fairly quickly but my mother had Alzheimer's for quite a number of years, so I am familiar with how hard it can be.

Can someone point me to the Chris & Cleo thread? Sorry I'm just sort on time and would like to pay my respects and do not have the time to go a searchin'. At least which forum it is in?

Hi Cathie & Baby,

Welcome back, sorry it was because of such a sad event, we have lost a number of very special kitties lately.

I took care of my mother until her passing last year so I know how overwhelming that can be.
