It is nothing more than a huge keloid (sp?). It will need to be removed as it does bother him and he licks and chews at it but at least he will only lose the mass and not the entire leg. Whew. He's getting up in years now and I was crushed to think he would have to relearn to walk now that he's starting to get stiff and achy with age. So I'm so happy to know yeah he's going to have to have a little hospital stay but he'll come home on all four feet.
Especially since this summer he's getting a playmate of his own species. or at least that is when the hunt for the perfect drooler begins.
