Well tomorrow morning is the big day for Mz. Autumn we officially switch her over to lev with her am shot....Okay so I switched her tonight on her pm shot but officially with her vet she starts tomorrow am. He was going to have me wait until after she was done with her antibotics and we had a go date for her dental, but since I think her Lantus is wearing out and the pen is almost gone as it is we agreed to go ahead and switch insulins now, see how she does on the lev and see if we can get her to hold those pretty blues longer before getting her teeth done.

The infection in her mouth is being stubborn we just went through one 10-course of antibotics and its still there so we are onto round 2. Hopefully this time we will get it gone and she can be scheduled for her dental...he said he wasn't terribly concerned about the bad bottom teeth but is worried about the infection around her upper canines. He is afraid if he goes in to remove those right now the infection could spread to her sinuses. Now if we could just agree on getting her on something for pain for now...He says she isn't in pain, I say she is...bad teeth hurt! So if I have to I may see if I can get her into see the woman that actually owns the clinic and see if I can talk her into pain meds for her.

Welcome to lev, Ms. Autumn!

Mel, I hope you can get pain meds for her. So many people, and vets, think animals don't feel pain. Not sure how that is even logical as it never made sense to me. It seems old school these days (to not treat for pain), but many vets are just beginning to consider it.

Welcome Mizz Autumn!

I agree about the pain. Sneakers is usually 30-40 points lower when I can slip her gaba BID. If she doesn't eat it she is higher.

I love this vet to death but he is older and sometimes we butt heads over things like pain in animals..His basic way of looking at it is 1) her mouth has been bad for so long she is use to the pain and doesn't notice it anymore..& 2) Once the infection is gone then her pain will be lessened so why give her more drugs for such a short period of time. Because she HURTS! And what's the difference if I'm already shoveling antibiotics down her throat and shooting her twice a day with insulin its not like it is going to take up a huge amount of my day to slip her one more pill and if it makes her more comfortable the old girl deserves it, she has already been left uncomfortable for far too long. I just want her Golden Years to be has happy and comfy as possible, she is such a sweetheart she deserves to spend the rest of her life as a pampered princess (Excuse me Autumn ..I meant to say a doted on Goddess  )
