For those of you that use an autofeeder, is there one that is better? Also, how did you determine when to set the feeder for?

Shadow's blood sugars are going a little crazy again and he has learned how to open cabinets to get the extra food..... going to try an autofeeder even though are vet has recommended against it.

Thanks!

Hmm--usually people who have these are excited about them--
the pet safe 5 is the one I have heard about the most-I actually have one but still not using it because I have grazers-
it is good tho-it is on amazon-you can put a ice pack on the bottom for wet food-
it is easy to set up --you just want to make sure you do not set it to give food 2 hours prior to test time.
I hope others drop by....

After a freak incident with my autofeeders and our toaster oven that one of the feeders did not survive, I got two of the petsafe5 feeders because they were on sale on Amazon, and it's gotten hard to find the feeders I had been using in stock. Back in 2006-2007 when I was trying out autofeeders (and they were WAY more expensive than they are now), Bandit ripped apart the Petsafe 5 (along with another feeder I had bought). That's why we went with the other one I mentioned--it is absolutely cat-who-thinks-he's-a-raccoon proof. However, I've had no such issues since I got the new Petsafe 5 feeders--Bandit has apparently mellowed out a bit in his old age and no longer sits and thinks of ways to destroy feeders all day to get at the food. Our younger cat, Orpheus, does do this, but he's not quite as wily as Bandit and hasn't managed to break into it like Bandit once did.

They are SO much easier to clean and program than my old ones. I hope we continue to have good luck with them!

Thanks- looks like it's the petsafe 5 =) How do you choose what times to set it for? Do you do it at a +6 or every 3 hours, or does it not really matter?
Thanks!

Just set it to whatever works for your kitty. BTW, it has 9 timer settings so you can run it on both the AM and PM cycles without needing to reset the timers.

Our cats eat every 6 hours, so we have our two programmed for their regular meal times--7am, 1pm, 7pm, 1am. There's a "suspend feeding" button, so you just hold that down when you don't need to use them.
