Hello all. I apologize that I have not been active for several months as I have been ill and recently had surgery and am home recovering.

My little update on Murphy. She is now 6 months without the need for insulin, her numbers are running in the low to mid 100s. Her iatrogenic Cushing's is subsiding as we have decreased her asthma inhaler to one puff twice per day! She looks and is acting amazing! She has her little smurky grin back and is truly, truly a gift from God. Thank goodness he intervened.

I hope you all are doing well and that all kitties are doing well too. Murphy says hello to all and wishes you all the best.

I've attached a few photographs for you to see her progress from critically ill to amazingly healthy!

Thanks for stopping by with Miss Murphy update!! It is wonderful to hear how well she is doing... and the pictures do say it all! Her markings are so similar to Willie's, so she's always had an extra soft spot in my heart. :-D I hope you continue to pop in with updates from time to time!

Thanks mucho. She wanted to know if she could ask Willie out on a date. I'm not sure what happened with Murphy, but the trail we've uncovered is that with the demodex mite (d. cati) and her skin issues on her nose, we believe she developed primary iatrogenic Cushing's first, that turned into both Cushing's and diabetes was secondary. So, by reducing her inhaled medications, I think we've beat this little booger to the ground! Knock on wood! Yes, she is something. She's become extremely close to me, hovers around me, follows me around all the time, and is so vocal. It's truly amazing and during this last year, it seems that we've become closer than ever. She looks at me with such admiration and love. I can feel it in her eyes (or see it). So funny, Murphy is now letting me hug her -- she comes up on my sofa, and sits beside me on the top of the sofa, and meows her little needy way, and I can actually hug her and lightly pet her with her little head on my shoulder. The stress of the unknown is enough to drive us all crazy, but we did it and this is what I got in return. I love her so, so much, and wish it could have went another way, but it just made me realize, when I look at those big greenish/olive eyes, how very special our babies are and how much they need us to take care of them. They have no voice. She always looks at me with this "I need you more than ever, mommy," look. She thinks she is grateful for me, but it's the other way around. God gave me a rescue kitty from a barn that was 3 weeks old, compromised from the start, and we've conquered, and she has come through. I think people underestimate the will of our little fur balls. But when we're stressed, they pick up on it, so as hard as I tried, man it was hard, I had to try to act like I was actually was happy about treating her, and so, here we are. God is good.

morning! it is wonderful to hear from you. I am glad that she is doing well - what a remarkable recovery. The pictures do tell all - what a beautiful kitty!

Awwwwww, Lisa, the pictures of Miss Murphy's improvement are so beautiful. As are your words. Your journey like so many has taken you from feeling this was a nightmare to it becoming a gift in disguise with the new found bond between you and Murphy. Thank you for your pm and concern for Tom. I hope we tell a similiar story very soon.
Much Love and Hugs,
Lori
