Nice raised cat bed you have there.

To avoid those preshot blues, you might try feeding a small snack at around +8-9. That should get his mostly working pancreas to kick in and being down the numbers. The snack is just a spoon or two of food. Note for any lurkers, this suggestion is just for kitties on barely any insulin and with a sputtering pancreas.
