? Asthma treatment OK for OTJ cat?

Dallas who's been OTJ since Oct 13 has asthma and his vet recommended a steroid puffer. She said it should not affect his BG as the steroid is delivered directly in the airway, but recommends to keep an eye on his BG anyway. Now, him getting kicked out of remission is a HUGE fear of mine. I have worked SO hard to get him there so, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a kitty who has successfully stayed OTJ while being on a steroid puffer to treat asthma?

The plan is to start him on the puffer after he heals from his dental surgery that he's scheduled for next week.

Hi!!

My cat is asthmatic with FD. She is on Flovent 250mcg 1 puff twice daily, and receives Ventolin/Albuterol during attacks - both for regular management of the asthma. Neither of these have influenced her BG - inhaled steroids don't do that. So you should be good with these on board from the perspective of FD.

Hi all!! I am so very sorry I have not been around more. @Dallas boy you should be FINE with the inhaler steroids. Their effects are limited to the lungs. You may notice the BG goes up with asthma attacks, but don't confuse with with inhaler effects, it's the actual attack. You'll be able to determine this by comparing normal BG without attacks. My Pearl is on her inhaler steroids every single day, 12 hours apart. It's the best way to keep the inflammation down, by staying on those medications.

Pearl is now in remission for 2 months, she was on the inhaler steroids her entire struggle with FD and while on insulin, and even now without insulin. We never changed that pattern.
