Hi Kids:

Sorry I wasn’t around yesterday. Drama. Tom rescued a baby rabbit yesterday (this was after he rescued house finches two weeks prior) and we thought for a few minutes maybe we could handle taking care of it... but decided bunny was better off in the hands of experts. I just got back from dropping him off at the closest wildlife rehab facility. Turns out he is in good shape and will make it, and is only 2 days old! Sweet little Eastern Cottontail. So tiny!

Anyhow, back to cats!
Asher did have a flat day in the 200’s yesterday but I am keeping up with the same dose, 2.8. Today I am encouraged in that his preshot was 264 and his +5 is 203, so a 60 point drop we will take happily :-D

So we’ll see what happens if we can stick with this dose for a bit. We may have to raise again but I don’t want to change anything for right now and just see how some consistent doses do for him.

I was interested on Kim and Kitty’s thread some talk about storage of the insulin and not to do it on the door. I have had it on the door since January. So....that makes me wonder too.

Silly things we see here:

Pardon the crappy iPhone photo, but you get the idea ;)

Here’s how we ended up today:

amps: 264
+5: 203
pmps: 248

So, I’ll take it, we’re lower than yesterday, we got a 60 point drop, and we are gonna hang at 2.8 for now to see if he comes down anymore.
Maybe it takes some time to get back to “normal” after he bounces?

Any more thoughts on keepin the insulin in the fridge/on the door? Is there a temp it should stay at?

I think I would keep it inside the frig - just in case it makes a difference. We kept ours in the door for a few days, until it fell out as someone opened the door. Then we moved it fast!

I always kept mine in the door and never saw a problem with it except for when we got to the dregs of the vial and then it seemed useless (this was PZI Vet though, could be different?).

Good on ya for the rescues, yay! o:-)

I've always kept mine in the door with no problems, but I did lower the temp to 40-41, although we don't get alot of fridge traffic anymore, just in case I think I'll move it to the inside.

Mine is in the door but in a compartment that has a lid, so it couldn’t fall out on the floor.

It’s just Tom and I here so the door isn’t opened that much, unlike if you have kids in and out.

I’ll try to get a thermometer in there soon and see what the temp actually is.

I did hang a thermometer in there over the vial to keep an eye on the temp.

I love Asher's version of a lounge chair, very cute and entertaining.
