Are we still Bouncing?

Since Friday the 16 when Bubba had the nice days with greens ( hit 51 at nadir) it appears he has been bouncing ever since. Last night's cycle he started off at 198 and went up to the 300's and looks like he stayed there most of the cycle. I don't want to rush it if he is still bouncing and make it worse. This AM I held the dose. Should I give it another day? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hmmm...he definitely stayed pretty flat yesterday afternoon, and then he had a high PM cycle (still flat though). My inclination is to say no, he isn't bouncing, because yesterday he had that lovely yellow preshot. He didn't really go down that much considering where his preshot was...and to me that says he is not bouncing anymore. But you know, with Bubba, it's often hard to say for sure. He does just tend towards higher numbers at night, a lot, it seems.

I think, if he were mine, I'd see where he goes today (you said you held the dose this morning, correct?). As long as he doesn't hit a super low, I think we can assume he's cleared the bounce and go from there? Sound good?
 
Yes, I held the dose for now considering that yesterday AMPS he was in the yellow and then he had the new vet appointment which I am sure stressed the heck out of him and he still managed to go into the blues yesterday and end in the blues and then last night's cycle...... made me think he was still bouncing. Oh Bubba..... Thanks for your input, it's nice to have another opinion for this little clown. Thanks Rachel.
 
Haha! I noticed that pink next to the note about the vet visit. Mine are the same...does Bubba ever sing the whole way to the vet? Mine like to yodel (I swear it's that loud).

How was the vet? What did he say?
 
Good morning Sharon! I really liked him a lot! He was one of the few vets that after he's done looking at the animal, he stands there a give lots of eye contact and did not rush me. He let me ask all kinds of questions and answered them all and even expounded on the question. He used to be a pathologist and then went to vet school. That knowledge should sure help as he cleans out the orbit and hopefully not leave any glandular tissues behind. He was very calming and told me he has an one- eye orange cat and said " after healing it looks kind of cute". He told me that he will only do Bubba's surgery on the 29th and no other one so that he can really observe him post operatively and he will let me come get him ASAP afterwards so that he will be less stressed out. We are going with him; not only is it a lot more reasonable in cost, it is 20 minutes from my house rather than an hour away. Fingers and Paws crossed.

He cries a little bit when I first put him in the carrier then he quiets amazingly the whole way there. Even if he did cry, his cries are very soft like a kitten. That's the way these Maine Coon cats are, gentle giants with little baby cries. We know what Bubba will be for Halloween, a pirate, ahhhhhhh, we just got to get him a parrot. (I sound like I am okay with all this, but my heart is breaking......)

This vet sounds wonderful, Bobbie and very reassuring. Paws crossed that Bubba will be a cute pirate!

Yesterday's cycle was lovely except for the one blip at the vet. We have thought he takes a while to settle in, right? I am with Rachel. Although he has had some fits and starts, he has had some nice numbers on this dose. I'd hold it awhile.

Re overnight: does he sleep or is he awake? Does he eat or have no food? You might vary the routine and see if it has any impact. So a small snack mid cycle if he doesn't usually eat at all. If he is asleep, that can make for a higher cycle (exercise lowers levels). If he were consistent (I know, stop laughing) we could look at a 11/13 cycle.....
 
Yeah, I am laughing!!! NO food during the night except for a piece of freeze dried chicken for his poke test treat, and he sleeps part of the night on the bed with me and when my 1 or 2 am alarm goes off to test , sometimes I find him just sitting by the French door looking outside into the night. I will try to vary the routine up and see what happens.

My thoughts about yesterday is that he probably would have gone much lower had it not been for the vet appointment. My gut was telling me to hold the dose for now too. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

Bobbie - so happy you found that great vet!! Hope you start seeing lots of yellows (and blues too)
