.... I got a spot check before bed (+4.5) and he was 225. I need to find a day I can do a curve, with particular attention to the later part of the cycle. I don't have a clue when he nadirs, but he seems to go up through at least +5.

Maybe he is a very late nadir kitty.

That is quite a rise for this AM. Was that after eating?

Glad you got your computer working! Now for an updated spreadsheet...hint, hint. :)

Oh how i wish i had the answers to share with you! The more i learn about feline diabetes, the more i learn that i just can't make heads or tails of it. I think we're making progress and then a curve ball is thrown at me.

Sorry you caught me on a day that i'm a bit jaded - Molly and i had a lousy, confusing day today.

From what you're saying, it does sound like he may be a late nadir kitty. I'd be curious to see how his numbers are around +7 through +9.

Hang in there my friend.

No, the am number was not after eating. His pm number was also in the 300s - also not after eating.

As an aside, I finished the tile part of the floor today (yay!). I still have to run a bead of caulk along the edge in that section (about 9 feet) and figure out how to put quarter-round along the wall under the baseboard heater. BUT, I was able to clean up some stuff and put away some tools.

I came home from my aunt's tonight and was getting their dinner ready when I heard that totally unmistakable noise - a cat peeing into or onto hard plastic - from that bedroom! OMG. He peed in the paint tray that had hardware, tape and a rag in it. I can't believe it. I am so, so disappointed in him. And frustrated. I can't believe he is going to start this up again. I thought getting the icky carpet out had solved the problem. He has not peed in there in four months since the project started. Sigh..... * sigh * :YMSIGH:

Maybe you should put a box in there for him? I just discovered something I learned from Dr. Elsey's cat attract litter flyer - moving the box to the inappropriate spot they insist on doing their business works! Then you slowly move the box over to where you want it and eventually they keep their business IN the box.

Not sure if it will work, but it's worth a shot. At least he peed IN something and not ON something! He gets a high 5 paw for that.

I had two boxes in this room before I started the project. One is just outside the door now and the other is in the second bathroom. I am really hoping that he saw the pan tray as a "pan" for doing his buisness in - albeit a rather small and strangly slooping one - and now that it is gone he won't revisit the spot. And, yeah, I could dump it in the toilet and wash off the hardware, but I had to toss the roll of tape.

I caught him peeing in the bath tub earlier. I knew someone was doing it and I thought it was my older female cat. I just changed litters to the Feline Pine scoopable. I wonder if he is adverse to it. I had been mixing it with the clay, but all the boxes are all or mostly pine now. I guess I could mix them again. He was using it ok last week.

Peeing in the paint tray and the bathtub? Wow Jeddie!!

I know i've asked this before but have you tried the regular ol' supermaket brands like Arm & Hammer or Tidy Cat?

Regular old supermarket brands are expensive and not scent free - even the unscented are scented. I think I tried 3 different ones a couple of years ago and found they were scented. I even wrote the company and asked why the unscented was scented and all they said was "we're sorry, here's a coupon for buying more of our product". It turns out that most of those brands are made by Clorox and they all have something in them that releases a scent. Stupid.

I found that the house brand at my Albertson's chain was very good, cheap, low dust and NO SCENT! But they just discountinued it for another maker and it is really dusty. I mean REALLY dusty. Which is too bad because it clumped even better than the other one. I tried about 6 jugs of it and none was any better.

I think the Feline Pine clumping is dusty, and it tracks badly, but it does a better job at odor control than clay and it is really light and lasts longer. A box that holds 14 lbs of clay litter weighs 4 lbs and lasts twice as long. And I found my local supermarket carries it for about half what the chain pet stores have it for. I'm will to sweep/vacuum more often, but if he (or any of the others) won't use it, it isn't a "deal". But for now I am really excited about being able to carry the box upstairs with no effort AND carry the used down with no effort. It's really light. And when you live on the third floor with no elevator, that is a big selling point.

I may have to keep one box with clay litter in it.
