Regular old supermarket brands are expensive and not scent free - even the unscented are scented. I think I tried 3 different ones a couple of years ago and found they were scented. I even wrote the company and asked why the unscented was scented and all they said was "we're sorry, here's a coupon for buying more of our product". It turns out that most of those brands are made by Clorox and they all have something in them that releases a scent. Stupid.
I found that the house brand at my Albertson's chain was very good, cheap, low dust and NO SCENT! But they just discountinued it for another maker and it is really dusty. I mean REALLY dusty. Which is too bad because it clumped even better than the other one. I tried about 6 jugs of it and none was any better.
I think the Feline Pine clumping is dusty, and it tracks badly, but it does a better job at odor control than clay and it is really light and lasts longer. A box that holds 14 lbs of clay litter weighs 4 lbs and lasts twice as long. And I found my local supermarket carries it for about half what the chain pet stores have it for. I'm will to sweep/vacuum more often, but if he (or any of the others) won't use it, it isn't a "deal". But for now I am really excited about being able to carry the box upstairs with no effort AND carry the used down with no effort. It's really light. And when you live on the third floor with no elevator, that is a big selling point.
I may have to keep one box with clay litter in it.
