Nevermind - I hadn't heard of Tresiba, but here it is:
https://www.tresiba.com/ I have not heard of anyone using this insulin in a cat.
The depot insulins like Lantus and Levemir are typically dosed once a day in people. Cats have a much faster metabolism and the insulin doesn't seem to last that long in cats. If I'm recalling correctly, studies have shown that it lasts 8-12 hours in cats. More concentrated solution wouldn't necessarily mean that it lasts longer.
We've got lots of tips that help people train their cats to come get tested and receive shots. Take a look at the "
Where Can I Find?" thread. There are tips in both the "Basics: New to the Group?" sticky and in the lower portion of the first post under "Starting out with a diabetic cat." Look for testing and shooting tips. We gave punkin cooked chicken breast bits for pokey treats and he loved them. Would've allowed just about anything to be done to him if it included a bite of chicken.
You're going to want to start a spreadsheet - it's an essential tool for managing your cat's blood sugar, and for us to be able to see information to give you a hand. There are directions in the "
New to the Group?" sticky. Ask if you need help and someone can start one and turn it over to to you maintain.
Glad to have you and Sketch here! Ask as many questions as you have. We've all been in your shoes.
