Anyone using once daily PZI?

Recently, I've been having problems administering twice daily Levemir to my cat, Bangkok. He either visibly tenses up or flinches every time he receives his Levemir. His back also twitches terribly when I touch him. At times, I feel an electrical current run through his back. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Before beginning these twice daily shots, it never used to happen. The area just behind his shoulder blades also seem tender. It's getting hard to find a spot on him now to administer the injection without causing him pain.

I was thinking of finding another veterinarian who uses PZI once daily and I wonder if anyone has used it and how effective it is?

No insulin lasts 24 hours in the cat. Of the insulins available, Levemir lasts the longest, followed by Lantus, for most cats and ProZinc and PZI the next longest.
 
I read on a vet page that PZI is one insulin that is possible to inject just once a day.
 
Nope. Unfortunately, at this stage, there is no once daily insulin. PZI is similar to ProZinc and they are both just twice a day insulins. I see in your signature that your insulin is diluted with saline? I have no idea if that would cause the stinging...anyone know?
 
The saline could be altering the Levemir in some way that is changing it's normally neutral PH leading to a stinging from the injection. If this is the case, Bangkok may be twitching even when you touch him, out of anticipation of the sting.

Why are you diluting the Levemir?

Drugs.com has the following information-

"Do not dilute or mix Levemir with any other insulin or solution. If Levemir is diluted or mixed, the pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic profile (e.g., onset of action, time to peak effect) of Levemir and the mixed insulin may be altered in an unpredictable manner."
