I have 2 guys that have bad ear infections and was given these drops. Well, they DEFINITELY don't like it when I put the drops in, but then they still shake their ears afterwards.

They don't seem happy at all. Can I be sure this is a good product to use and that it actually is helping them even though they are making me seem like I am making them more miserable?????? nailbite_smile confused_cat

I used it years ago for my dog - he hated it and would shake his head as well. If I remember correctly, Otomax has alcohol in it, which can sting and/or be drying to the ear canal. We switched to Oticalm - no alcohol... but he still shook his head afterwards. If you have ever put drops in your ear, you know it feels funny, and you want to get it out as soon as possible? I'm sure that is the way your guys feel as well.

Good luck with the ear infections!

When I give ear drops, I smush the ear together to ensure that it gets "in" and and stays in and hold it that way for at at least 30 second (or as long as I can) then let the cat head shake. It's what mine do and I think just a normal thing.

Did the vet mention anything about cleaning the ears too? I also take a cotton ball (no q-tips) and will clean the visible area of ears to help get the gunk out. The drops loosen it up and the ball helps to get it out.

Check with your vet to see if they recommend this too.

Larry, how have you been? Haven't talked to you in ages!!! :-D

Have you ever used this medicine?
