Hello! Happy (almost) new year!! I am just wondering if there are any members in the Phoenix metro area here in Arizona. One of my new years resolutions for 2025 is take my family on a vacation of some sort. However, I need some help with finding someone to watch Kitty and give her insulin injections. Does anyone have any resources? I have tried calling my vet's office but they do not have any techs that would be able to help on the side. I don't have any friends or family that know how to give injections either so that's not an option. It would be nice if I could find someone in my area that I could meet up and either share resources or have help me watch Kitty.

Just putting some feelers out to see what I can find! If you know someone that could help us out or have any positive suggestions on where to look for a reliable helper, I would greatly appreciate it!

For your pleasure, here is Kitty showing off that she was the best gift under the tree this year. :)

You may want to post this on the Health board and Lantus board. They are busy. The FDMB Meet up doesn't get very much traffic. The last time anyone posted here was in August.

I'm going to move this post to Health.

Try other vet offices near where you live to see if they have techs willing to visit. Or see if they have notice boards with pet sitters listed on them.

She’s adorable. Yes call other vet offices and try Nextdoor but also call pet sitting services. Some pet sitters have a lot of experience with diabetic pets and some are even vet techs working a second gig. The pet sitter I got (before my boy became ill) from a neighbors referral just happens to be a senior vet tech/office manager for another town’s ER who works three jobs—sitting being one of them. She was worth her weight in gold when Methos got sick.

Also: one thing I usually do (pre diabetes, I’m not traveling now) is i hire the sitter (who is good about spending time, feeding, litter etc) but also ask friends/neighbors to just drop by and visit or give a treat —so there is a little more people traffic for the boys’ enrichment

Thanks everyone! I love these suggestions. I was also thinking of looking at care.com but I think I will check next door first. I have seen a few of my "neighbors" in semi-nearby areas that I have directed to this site after their cat was diagnosed so I know I probably have some people nearby that have a little experience. I checked with two different vet offices but no luck with that so far. I will keep trying though! Thanks again!
