Just wondering if anyone posting here is near our area? We need to find a new vet that is willing to work with us using a human meter for testing ou kitty at home. Thanks

First, do a Google Maps search on "veterinarian near [your street address here]" to identify nearby candidates.

Then use my signature link Vet Interview Topics for some questions to rule in or out a vet candidate.

Thanks, I was just hoping there was someone around here that had some experience with a vet that was knowledgeable with diabetes and willing to work with their patients. There are plenty of vets around here. Just hopefully we can find a good one. Absolutely going to use your link! I printed Your other info with the glucose meter notes and was told it was also not true, not possible to compare them.

That is a little over an hour from us. I found one local, a cat only practice and have an appt. for Monday. It looks very promising! Forgot to add, they were on the website link above and this vet has a link to the feline diabetes website on their vet site. Good reviews for specialty illness and willingness to work with people. Fingers crossed. Thank you!

way back when I was vet shopping - my main questions were:

are you on board with my asking questions -- as my previous vet got angry when I asked questions and questioned treatments

are you open to listening to me and other ideas or is it your way and that's it

will you be on team Maui and show me how to inject insulin, how to properly home test and support this

Sounds too familiar! Anytime we asked questions we got the run around, a very generic answer, sometimes lied to ( we fed her during her curve, but none of her food we brought was used and when she got home went running to her food and water dish like a maniac every time. We were not supposed to question. When we tried to tell about her actions at home, we were not listened to. Like when she was on the 2u or the 2u/1u stint and you had to wake her to eat and drink because all she could do was sleep, but " she was ok, just comfortable". I just want someone who will listen to us, explain things to us, work with us and help bananas get better.
