Anyone ever had their cat twitch with an insulin shot?

I posted this on the Lantus board, but then realized that maybe this is actually a feline health question, so here goes...

Tonight and 2 times before, when pushing the insulin into BooBoo, she twitched on a different spot on her back other than where the shot was going and even seemed somewhat irritated. I didn't remember to warm the shot 1st this time as I had my mind on shooting in a different spot tonight, more to the left of the scruff rather than the middle again. Wondering if anyone has had this happen to them too or knows if maybe I hit a nerve, a muscle, or if maybe it was just cause it was cold. Like I said I think this the 3rd time this has happened and am wondering if I may be doing something wrong? Some folks on the other post said it was probably nothing, but I am just concerned cause it is the 3rd time and she did also appear irritated, which she usually doesn't when I give a shot nor does she twitch usually. Just wanted to get some more eyes on this and see if anyone may have had a similar experience or might know what's up...

Any info appreciated, thanx... :)

31 ga. is a good size syringe. She just may be sensitive in the area you are shooting. Are you pulling up the skin and shooting into the tent?

You may want to try a different location like on her side.

I'll just be aware of the spot it happened at I guess. Went on the right scruff side today and it was all good. I have attempted to pull up skin in other areas such as sides and even the thigh/leggy area, but to no avail. She doesn't even like being touched or pet there, never has, so I am left to the scruff, unless I wanna REALLY irritate her and make the process even worse!

Lantus uses pH reactions to form micro-precipitates under the skin, which create a time-release action (from the petdiabetes.wikia). I believe it can be slightly uncomfortable because of that.
