? Anyone done the Cushings test?

debating whether or not to do it but i'd really like to know someone else's experience please. i'm not sure what is involved. my cat has had enough stress already and I understand the chances are slim he's got it.

drinking a lot, peeing a lot, elevated liver enzymes. his BG is still all over the place but vet says his fructosamine is normal (useless idiotic test) so she doesn't think its his diabetes causing all this.

and get this - she says "maybe home testing his BG is stressing him out"

I could scream.
 
The easiest and most stress free test is the UCCR test. This involves collecting a sample of urine AT HOME and taking it to your vets. They would send it to IDEXX or one of the other outside labs that do the test. If it comes back in a normal range then no more testing is needed.

Thank you that is certainly easy enough! We've got plenty of urine here!
 
In my 3 dogs, there were two quite involved tests to determine whether the Cushings is due to a Pituitary tumor (good prognosis) or "directly" due to the Adrenal gland. All three were due to a tumor in the Pituitary gland and all dogs were treated with a cytotoxic drug=Lysodren for life without adverse effects!!! Good Luck.
 
I've just been told Lunar has Cushing's yet wasnt told upon adopting her. bit of a shock. can you tell me anything of what yo guys have learnt please?

i know very little. we did not do the test but switched insulins, and vets.

you prob will get more responses if you start a new thread with your inquiry. Lunar is so pretty! <3
 
Thank you for replying, I didn't want to start a new thread and get told I had stated new thread when a current one going; so I hunted it out. Does your vet monitor Mr.Biddles condition at all?
I've just been told the condition and told to get on with it at home and insurance won't cover; only reason been told and cos I mentioned some symptoms I had noticed.

we monitor his thyroid and diabetes, yes, but we never tested cushings. he has no cushings symptoms.

i hope you can get more assistance and information about lunar's condition.
