Hi all. Noticed my cat seems uncomfortable eating and saw some plaque and gum issues. Thinking of getting a dental cleaning done but also looking for preventative care tips. Any advice on diets, supplements, or brushing techniques for cat dental health? Also, if you've done a professional cleaning, how did it go? Thanks!

Hi George
Is your kitty a diabetic? If so I would definitely get the teeth checked out. Even if he’s not a diabetic I would get them checked out as bad teeth can lead to several health issues.

I clean my cats teeth every night and he has lovely white clean teeth. I started when he was a kitten so it has been easier than if he was older when I started.
You could start by trying to rub the teeth with your finger and cat toothpaste. Don’t use human toothpaste as it is poisonous to cats
You could also feed your kitty a raw chicken neck , under supervision a couple of times a week.
