Rupert lost a tooth last night and got some antibiotics from the vet today, just picked them up, so I didn't even see him. I didn't even think to question about sugar content, he knows he is diabetic, but when I gave him his dose tonight, it was sticky, so I am sure it has sugar. It's a pretty large dose too! 3 ML Rupert got a 96 today, yea, but now I am worried what this will do. Any one else have this happen? Any idea how high he might go? Gosh, I am just sick about this! :( Poor Rupert, he can't catch a break.

Can you call the vet or the pharmacy to see if it has sugar? Sometimes you can have liquid flavored the way you want.
Hi Sue, it was too late to call the vet. I will call first thing tomorrow, but I did give him a dose, before I realized it had sugar. I missed some and when cleaning it off his fur, it was very sticky. They use the same stuff for people, so guess they put sugar in it to help the medicine go down. Vets should carry antibiotics just for cats, with liver flavor, etc. Maybe they do and my vet just sucks! I will have him mark his charts NO SUGAR based medicines!. I only saw the vet tech. *sigh* Thanks, for your reply, hope he doesn't go sky high, he was doing so well today for once. :(

My vet did the same thing to me, so I've started asking, every time they want to give Colin anything, if it's ok for diabetics.:banghead:
