I sort of hijacked someone else's thread yesterday on mini meals. Here's my own.

Mr. Kittyface needs about 300 cals a day. I have switched him to fancy feast. Each can has around 100 cals. So far I am giving him one in the morning. One at lunch and then another at dinner.

Any advice or comments are appreciated!!!

Hi @idauria and thanks for starting the new thread. And welcome to you and your kitty! Mr Kittyface is a gorgeous boy!
I did answer you on the other thread about the meals. I suggested dividing the 300 calories into 2 (150 calories) and giving half in the am cycle and the other half in the pm cycle. And for each cycle give 90 calories for the main meal and divide the leftover 60 calories into 2 snacks and give one @+2 and the other @+5. Do this for each cycle.
However seeing that there is 100 calories in each can you could give 1 can before each meal and then divide the third can up into the 4 snacks you will need over the two cycles...so he would get 25 calories each snack.
Will he eat 100 calories in one sitting? That seems a lot to me.

You mention in your signature that you are giving Prozinc 2 units twice a day but there are no units recorded in the pm cycles
Is that just an oversight?
Do you always test before every dose to see it is safe to give the insulin? It is really important that you do, as some kitties can drop lower at preshot and unless you are testing you won’t know. The routine is test/feed/shoot.
Here is the link to Prozinc. I am going to tag @JanetNJ as she uses Prozinc and I use another insulin.

My only advice would be in looking at your spreadsheet, always get a pmps, and don't forget to write in your units for the evening. I usually feed 4 times a day, morning, lunch, dinner, and bedtime.

He does eat the can in one sitting. He really likes it. I do give 2 units of Prozinc twice a day so if it is not on there, it is an oversight. I am taking him to the vet on Monday for a curve test. I showed the vet the numbers and he thinks we should raise the dose, but wants to get the full picture first.
I just started testing his BG this week. It was taking me a while to figure out how to do it right. That is why I only have 3 AMPS numbers and only 1 PMPS number. I only did one test today, seeing as he's having a curve done on Monday.

You can do your curve yourself at home and save yourself some money. once i started home testing my cat didn't go back to the vet for a year. It does seem like you will need an increase. Don't raise it by more than 0.25-0.5 units at a time. So I might do 2.5 If your curve shows you need it.

I have not been able to test every two hours a curve requires. Mostly because he likes to sleep behind my bed and I can't seem to get him out of there! I also was not having much luck getting readings. Maybe after this curve at the vet, I will feel more confident to do it myself. Having said that, the vet said he would raise his dose to 3 units. If I were to raise it only .25 or .50, I'm not even sure how to do that with the needles I have since they only go in 1 unit increments.
