Morning all,
Been a member for a while taking in all the useful information. Thought it was about time i posted.
Our diabetic cat 'Sandy' was diagnosed last year, she had been struggling with mobility on her back end and was overweight
. Anyhoo, a visit to the vet (who thankfully is a friend of ours) and she came back with the diabetes diagnosis. She had been fed on dry food for several years and is a bit greedy one it comes to food. Anyway we started the insulin course and changed her diet (and the other 3 cats) to wet food only. Within 6-7 weeks she was into remission and seemed a whole lot better. We are now a good 10 months into the remission and whilst she seems okay her back end mobility seems a little worse (she will be 14 this summer). She has had regular checkups to make sure she is still okay and so far all is well. I would really like to start doing home monitoring as the vet trips seem to stress out 2 of the other cats more than her.
All in all she is doing well for a cat that has been relocated from England to Scotland and then onto the USA!
