Another Blood Curve ?

First off I want to wish all of you a Happy 2015

Both cats are off insulin , Dasher for 6 weeks and Blitzen for 3 weeks or so. I do check their numbers a few times a week at random times and they are always in a range of 58 to 83 , Blitzen will go as hight as 113 one hour after eating but goes down ...he like the high 60's and low 70's and Dasher likes the high 50's to low 70's.
My vet wants me to do a full curve so she can see how the react to feedings , I have yet to do it. I just don't see a need to poke them every two hours.
What are your thoughts?

First, congratulations! I don't think I've ever seen a scenario play out like yours, and it was cool to watch both cats respond so well.

I don't see any reason why you would need to do a curve as long as you are still catching them in normal numbers when you test at random times. The one benefit I can see is for your vet. She is probably still trying to wrap her mind around what happened, so if she thinks doing a curve can help her see that yes, they really are diet controlled, then maybe it's worth it. It won't help you or your cats, but if it helps your vet then it might help someone else's cat down the road.

Ok thanks. I'll do it in a few days now that the holidays are over.
I know I've posted this before , I still think there was something wrong with their hard kibble. They are pretty much on wet food but I did buy the Forever Young no carb kibble for them. Blitzen get about 10 pieces daily, Blitzen was demanding it and Dasher could of cared less but I do give him 5 or 6 pieces and sometimes none.

I'll be sure to do the curve not that it's possible that my data might help out another.

It's hard to say what happened to make them both diabetic, but I'm glad it resolved and I hope they can stay OTJ forever.

I once paid for a fructosamine test while Lucy was on insulin because it made my vet much more comfortable with what I was doing. She seemed interested but still confused. It was worth it to me to be able to help her be confident that I knew what she was doing. It turned out to be well worth the investment, since I have adopted two other diabetic cats since then and she has never once questioned what I did with them.

I've been doing that all along and am very aware of all of their habits.....yes, they are more than a glucose test. In fact my boys are looking great. Dasher has slimed down and now has a waist , Blitzen is just big and not overweight , both are active and healthy boys. Hubby and I stay on top of them and their health.
