My poor baby Annie. Took her in this morning because she had blood in her urine again. They kept her to do tests and give ultrasound. Vet just called and told us to come in and talk.

I'm soooo upset. On my way there right now. My heart is crushed!

I'll keep you all posted

Keep Annie in your thoughts please!

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

thank you for your thoughts

So we went in and talked to the vet. He showed us her ultrasound results. Basically, a normal bladder should look like a water balloon - smooth and round, Annie's is the total opposite. It's rough and rigid and extremely inflamed, as is her kidneys, and gall bladder. So Basically, her insides are a mess, so he put her on IV fluids and strong antibiotics right away and is keeping her overnight. We went in and saw her and she is soooo sad and i just knew she thought we were there to take her home! :(

so really, it's a waiting game right now to see if these antibiotics are working, and also to get her Urine and Blood test results back.

Ugh, she's never spent the night at the vets ever, and i miss her soooo much right now!

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

(((((Huge long hang on for a long as you want type of hugs)))))

We are all crossing our fingers, toes, paws and tails here that Annie will respond to treatment quickly and be able to come home real soon. I know how hard it is to have them sick and away from home. If you haven't already perhaps if she has to stay at the vet's for even a few days take her in a t-shirt, pillow case or something else that smells like home to her. Cats respond to smells even more than sight so being able to smell home and those she loves will help her feel better about being in a strange and scary place.

On no!! (((Star)))

Paws crossed the vets figure this one out quickly. Nothing worse that wandering around home and not hearing the sound of little feet.
Sending lots of healing energy your way to Annie.

I'll keep Annie in my thoughts and send all kinds of good wishes.

When you go back to visit, you may want to bring a t-shirt -- preferably one you've worn so your smell is there. It may be a comfort for Annie.

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

Thank you everyone. Thank you for the tips about the clothing... i will do that first thing in the morning.

her sister knows something is up.... Jade has been creeping around and crying all night! and extra cuddly!

The vet said he wants her home too as soon as possible, and if there's anything we can do at home, that's the best place for her. I just miss my little Anniebear. And it's only been 9 hours so far but it feels like days!

I'm so sorry to hear this!! Does she also have a kidney infection? It rather sounds like it. I hope they have her on an extended course of Baytril or Zeniquin. Sending many, many healing vines and snowflakes for your beautiful Annie.

Please keep us posted.

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

Prayers for Annie and for you too. It is so horrible when they have to be hospitalised. It's good though that the vet wants her home asap, at least you know he will be working towards that instead of just keeping her there unnecessarily as is so often the case.

Sending prayers, snowflakes, and healing vines to Annie. I hope she gets to come home today.

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

Thank you ALL. Annie and I really appreciate the well wishes.

I called last night before bed to check on her, they said she was fine!

She is getting IV Timentin, does anyone know about that?

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

So They have to keep Annie another night. They have to wait for the results of the urine culture so they know what antibiotics to give her after. :(

There is no more blood in her urine. and i did have a chuckle because usually they bring her into the room when we visit, but they brought us back to the cage because none of them wanted to pick her up, haha apparently she's been vicious! she's soooooo not! but can see why. There is a big red sign on her cage that says WILL BITE! too funny

I love that the vets is 24-hour so i know people and vets are there all the time, makes me feel better, they are soooo good there.

Re: Annie is hospitalized!

Well if someone coming at you was going to poke you, I think you might poke right back!

Annie is coming home tonight. She is responding well to the antibiotics and the swelling is coming down. He is sending us home with injectable antibiotics. He also said she has a lot of e coli but the antibiotics will help this.

Her kidneys aren't working 100% but they are still doing their job so he said its not a huge concern right now.

I'm so happy she's coming home tonight
