So i just noticed like 5 minutes ago that Annie has really bad dandruff right at the base of her tail. She's a domestic short hair, she has thick hair. i've noticed some dandruff on her through the years but it wasn't too bad, just a bit now and again. Well what i saw tonight was icky! it's like huge flakes but i checked her all over and it's only right in one spot. Is this due to Diabetes? or change in diet? is it allergies? i'm sure it could be lots of things, and probably just the time of year maybe.

Poor Anniebears... she's got enough to deal with, now she's gonna get a complex over this dandruff business

A lot of people notice dandruff especially at the beginning of the treatment. Bob had some too, but it went away as his numbers became better regulated, and his was also mainly at the base of his tail....well, his little stub of a tail since he doesn't have one!

With long hair, it can be difficult to get through it to get at dandruff.

Using a natural boar bristle brush helps distribute the oils so they don't cause the normal skin shedding (desquamation) to stay glued to the skin.

Using a pet specific cleanser may remove the oils causing dead skin cells to stay clumped on.

Yes, dandruff is a common side effect of high blood sugar. You might also notice a greasy feeling to her coat. These will both go away once you get her blood sugar under control.
