So we got him all settled and I admit we got lax with testing ect. We'd do a before dose test but stopped the +4. He also went off of the stricty wet food diet, he would throw up if only given wet, but could keep down dry. We tried finding a good low carb food here in Canada but are having issues with this. He is currently on the dm. This is something I am hoping you can help with. The best dry food suggestions.
His chart is currently as mess, I have lots of numbers I can fill in from my reader, but honestly, because I panicked when his numbers went wonky I tried to change too many factors, so they are really no help. This week he has been off his food and eating at various times due to vomiting. So, ya, he's a mess and we're a mess taking care of him. I know the rules but he has so many other factors concerning food they don't really work. So what I really need is a suggestion of the best dry, believe me I wish I could have him on wet only.
He has been to the vet, was put on antibiotics, now his tummy is a mess(he has forti flora, but urrently has no interest on it when i try to sprinkle it on wet food). His last fructosime in May was good. His ketones are good. We are thinking of doing an ultrasound just to make sure he has no growths. But what I really would love is a good dry food recommendation.

Dr. Elsey's may be available in Canada. Young Again Zero Carb is a low carb dry food. They ship to Canada.

If your cat's tummy is a mess, FortiFlora isn't a great probiotic. If you let us know what's going on, we can make a recommendation.

Good dry food is a bit of a contradiction. This post by Dr. Lisa Pierson has lots of good information:
Dry Food - PLEASE consider more than just carbohydrate content

Even though I live in Canada, I don't keep up on what is "good" for dry food. Have you ever tried freeze dried or air dried food? They have crunch and are typically low carb. If your kitty is having tummy problems, I wonder if trying a novel protein might help. The freeze dried and air dried foods have some good novel protein options. Frequent vomiting is something that should be investigated by the vet. If he has IBD, then that could be a food allergy and those novel proteins might help.

I've tried freeze dried he won't eat it.
There are a bunch of factors with his food. We try to do mainly wet, but this week he won't eat that all.
He has major sinus issues, so if he can't smell it he won't eat, he has stomach issues, hs been tested a bunch, once we thought he had a blockage and actually had surgery, this is a normal cycle for him, food wise he's a disaster, but he has gone into keto once already so if he won't eat one we give the other, if not fed when he wants to be he will eat anything he shouldnt and start a cycle of throwing up. He's a pain but I love him.
We have a vet appt on Wed to discuss his insulin, doing an ultrasound checking to see if his throat polyp is coming back(size of a golf ball), getting him more tummy meds etc.
I know no dry food is good, but ‍♀️

If he has a history of ketones and DKA can you please put that into his signatures it’s important we know that when answering questions.
As I’m sure you know if you have dealt with ketones and DKA that it is really important that he eats and eats well and often. And that he gets his insulin dose and doesn’t miss doses. To do otherwise is to invite ketones back in.
So I would offer him what ever he will eat, as eating anything is more important that not eating.
Are you testing for ketones at home routinely?
Why did the vet put him on antibiotics?
If he had an infection it is really follow that up to see it has all resolved.
Have you tried sboulardii or visbiome for the upset tummy. Both are very good probiotics.

The DKA is in his signature: the tummy issues are unknown but happen every once in a bit, the antibiotics is because he now has a constant upper respiratory issue. I'm trying something new with his food and I think it is working, his numbers are going much lower. I think if I space his food out to basically 1/8 of the recommended daily portion split up every 4 or 5 hours, but still give him the higher insulin dose he stays a constant blue. It's scary giving him 2.5 to 3 units if he is only 144, but so far it seems good. I'm making sure to test him multiple times just in case. But the dry food right after his dose shots him up enough he doesn't drop too low. I'd still like to find a better dry so we could knock it down to 1.5 or 2 units, but at least he isn't stuck in reds and blacks now.
I have the vet check his ketones whenever we go in, and we're there fairly often. They've been good ever since he came out of DKA last Sept. yay!

Just a thought--I have a cat who throws up when he eats too much too fast, which is easy to do with wet food. We have to restrict him to half a 3 ounce can at a time, he would eat a whole can, but then he would throw up--"Scarf 'n' Barf" we called it. So we feed him by himself, and give him the limited amount of food each time, and no more barfing. We feed him 4 times a day, which probably wouldn't work for you, but maybe two smaller meals 20 minutes apart at meal times, or something like that?

Just a update.
We've switched him back to wet only. He is in the middle of a throw up episode, the only food that doesn't make him throw up right now is the zd hills food. We were getting his sugars back down, I thought the stress was making his sugars go up, ends up the zd food is super high in carbs.
We have a raw food company nearby, so we are going to try to switch him to that. Hopefully, that will solve the fancy feast puking problem.
He is on cerenia for vomiting but it doesn't work great. Seeing if we can get the shot for him that we can administer, it works better.
