Andy 3/4 update

I'm not sure what's going on with Andy this last week+. His numbers are all over the place. Started a new vial of insulin. He was bouncing a lot. He was doing well on lower numbers but has been pretty much flat today and yesterday. Any ideas what could be going on with him? What am I missing? Nothing else has changed.

I am not sure, Yvonne. There are two ways to go - go back down to the dose that gave you better numbers or increase every 3 cycles. I think I'd be tempted to go down for a cycle or two and see if things improve. If that doesn't help, go back up and start moving up - 0.25 every 3 cycles.

Yes - I think I will try going down again tomorrow. He was getting a good drop from .8 to 1. Just when I think we are doing well, he goes out of whack on me. I wish this was more of a science than an art!

Looking better!
Yes indeed. A question for you: I want to switch meters and am thinking about the Relion Prime. The test strips for the Trak2 are soooo expensive and I use so many. I figure if I use the Relion meter, I could always use the Trak to verify the numbers taking into account the difference. (Until I get him under control, if ever.) Any thoughts or other recommendations on this??

I am an alphatrak user and I am using freestyle lite strips - they appear to be the same strip but about half the price. There's lots of threads about it on this forum. I guess I always marvel at relion users and look at the their numbers, but then I have to remember that the numbers are falsely low I tried testing myself with an alphatrak - I am not diabetic and just had a check up so I know I am ok - my readings on the alphatrak was 180 and 140. so that is the inter-species difference (I hope)

Thank you for the input - need to check this out - I really like the alphatrack but those strips are outrageously expensive.
Andy is still not regulated and he reacts to small dose variations so testing him a lot.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat - do a comparison with the alphatrak and freestyle lite - I've done it a few times and the readings were always within 5 points
