i think jose was sensing my negative energy last night. i was in full melt down mode over my beautiful rowdy. enough.

jose woke me up this morning before 8am - she was sitting in the middle of the room barking. very unusual - not the barking sound, just her doing it to wake me up. i don't usually get up until 9am & she is usually just sprawled on the floor. so i got up & tested her by around 8:30. she was at 181. am waiting on more test strips now. i did have to give her a TINY bit of chicken to get her to cooperate, but i got the blood less than ten minutes after she ate it. would the chicken effect the bg that fast?

i wonder if the earlier overdosing of insulin was causing her to be less active?

i had two test strips this morning - the first one was faulty. of course. i've got to figure out how to change my mojo on this test strip/ear poke thing.

The chicken shouldn't have impacted your test. You gave .5 last night with no test, right?

Darn, wish we had numbers from yesterday. She may just gone down the rest of the cycle.

So glad you are getting strips today. Test again this am. If she is safely into the 200 range and you are going to be there to monitor, you could consider just a little less than the .5 (we call it a skinny dose). But I think you said you were not going to be around. If that is the case, and she is clearly rising and above the 200, maybe half the .5?

I know these tiny doses are hard to measure. Are you using U40 or U100 syringes?

The bad news is that the numbers are a little nerve wracking. The good news is that you are there on a tiny bit of insulin!

unfortunatley i am using the u40. that dose sounds tiny. i guess i need the u100 & the conversion chart. so, if she is above 200, give herr .5, if she is not above 200, no shot. i should be able to test her @ the three hour mark. if that will help at all.
 
we are an hour later than we should be, but she is at 229. so .5?

and SERIOUSLY, why is she so hard to get blood? i put that sock on her for a good five minutes & i still have to poke her three or four times. and the lancet pen is on the deepest setting. extremely frustrating.
 
got a blood sample about 1:15, so almost 3+ & it was 69. i didn't believe it so twice more 83 and 73. these are all from the same spot. is it possible she is not diabetic anymore? that tiny fraction of a dose (.25) & her bg dropped like that?
 
Some cats are vert sensitive to insulin; Cass gets .2u but has good drops. Remission is possibility-she.ll always be diabetic but.may be diet controlled. All we can do is wait & see what happens.
