Even though my heart is still breaking I have to dance on...My beautiful Musette would want it this way, she would want me back on this board, and trying to help others to learn the dance steps she taught me so well.

Besides she also left me with another dance partner....Autumn. So I have to dance on, Autumn requires that I stay on the dance floor even when I would rather crawl in bed and stay there for the day. Luckily for me so far Autumn has been a nice easy slow waltz compared to my fiery Musette who was determined that mom was going to do a Tango, Samba, Rumba and the Cha Cha...

Its going to take me a few days to catch up with where everyone is, and I see that in my absence we have added several folks to our little family over here so it looks like I have a bunch of back stories to catch up on and welcomes to hand out.

For those reading this that don't know Autumn's back story....Autumn was originally named Lulu...I recently adopted her from DCIN because her previous owner was unable to see well enough to give her insulin and thus Autumn was left untreated for 10+ months before my DH and I adopted her.

When she arrived in our home she was so severely dehydrated that her ears didn't feel like kitty ears they felt like dried out leather, she is meant to be a large cat as she is very tall and long, but she didn't even weigh 6lbs. My vet believes her ideal weight is somewhere between 12-14lbs, and she was so badly matted that I had to take her to be completely shaved. The very first day I had her I tried to clip her out myself, and what I started to find was horrifying...first off her mats were so bad that her skin was literally twisted and pinched in them, I found things like dead bugs, whole kernels of feed corn, burrs etc. In places the mats had literally worn sores in her skin, some of which were deep and ugly looking.

Not only was she in rough shape outwardly, she was in rough shape internally, she had moderate ketones and a blood sugar of 527! Today I'm sitting here typing up her back story while stalling her shot to see if she is rising or still dropping before I feed her and the rest of the Fur Gang, because when I tested her this morning her BGs were a lovely 74! The Ketones have disappeared she is gaining weight and her pretty little ears are back to be silky soft kitty ears again and her wounds have healed.

So while I will always love and miss my pastel tortie girl, my bold little tortie and I have hit the dance floor to continue the dance.

Hugs to you all that have sent me such beautiful kind words and hugs and shared tears for the loss of my lovely Musette...But the Show Must Go On...and Autumn & I are ready to dance in the memory of Musette.

Welcome back Mel! Although I am rarely on "relaxed" lantus board, you have always helped us newbie no matter where we are! Really appreciate all the generous support & help from you.

Mel, you are truly amazing. You are more concerned with helping everyone else at a time when no one would blame you for giving yourself some time to rest. Every one of your fur babies is fortunate to have you for their caregiver. Welcome back!

So glad you've come to the rescue of Autumn~ you're amazing! Been thinking about you so much
warmly,
Tracy & Louie
