Anal glands and bulk

It’s been a couple of year years since I was here. My boy Blitzen has been in remission for a long while now.
I do have a question if anyone has advice.
Blitzen needed to have is anal glands expressed about a month ago , I don’t know why this happened but from what I read it’s best to have bulky stool . He eats only FF pate and Young Again zero carb kibble and his movements are always soft. I just picked up Glandex to help bulk it up and hopefully the glads will take care of themselves.

Other than that stuff or even pure pumpkin what can be done as far as carbs for bulk but not jeopardize his remission?

Hi! My OTJ kitty had her anal glands expressed a couple months ago. She had never had that problem before. I began giving her 1/8 tsp of Glandex (beef liver flavored) daily, and it has worked like a charm! Even better, she actually likes it mixed in her food.

I hope you will see good results like we did.

How much do you give her ? I’ve just started and give him 1/8 of a teaspoon. Today will be his 4th day
I think he needs them expressed again judging from tail position.

I give 1/8 teaspoon daily - started 2 days after glands expressed.
The vet didn't mention Glandex, she just said to come back if she had trouble again. Grrr. Someone here mentioned it and I knew it had worked for others.
I hope your boy Blitzen doesn't need expressed again; my experience is quite limited. My girl was bending sideways to try to go, and I first thought it was due to her spinal arthritis. She no longer has to contort her little self to do her business.
Tail position sounds like a smart way to notice - sounds like you really know Blitzen!

This is the only group in the world where I could state this and you won't think me completely bats. My vet suggested that warm compresses on the anal glands can help keep them from getting crusty/blocked and allow normal function. I thought...there is no darn way I could accomplish that. A night soon after, she was laying on me comfortably and I asked my husband to bring me a coffee mug of warm salt water and a rag. At first contact, she was like ...what are you doing to me? But pretty soon she settled in and decided it felt pretty good. So, that's one way to watch TV at night. LOL

I'm sorry - you did suspect he needed help again. I hope you see a BM soon, or can at least get help from the vet. Of course I could be wrong, but I worry that pumpkin could raise BG. The only time I tried it, we had no luck. Go Blitzen! Oh and I like the warm compress idea.

Well things are going well . I too am concerned with the Glandex and his blood sugar. I’ll will check him once he’s been on it for a week. It’s not strictly pumpkin so he might do okay , as of now all is good.
