AMPS 185- to dose or not?

I'm posting everywhere, and hopefully this is the right spot. My cat Jimmy was recently bumped from 4u to 4 1/2u. After 3 days on 4 1/2u I saw a slight chang to his numbers being in the low 300's. He needed alot of calories so he was basically "allowed" to eat as much as he wanted. His weight is stable now (he was very very sick) My question is: and this is what I did; last night I gave him 5u, hoping to see a change, and I did, he was at 185 when I woke up this morning. I was hesitant to give him 5u again (I'm not sure why) so I gave him the 4 1/2u again. He's doing fine, just tested him, and he's at 218. My quesstion is should I give him the 4 1/2u tonight if he drops to a certain level, or do I adjust it a little, and how much? He's on Lantus 2x a day and he still eats at leisure, but the food isn't his favorite so he's not gorging himself (Dry DM). Advise please? Thank you again- Chloe.
