Newkitty has a bladder and kidney infection and we just started amoxi-tabs last night. This morning she won't eat. Have you seen inappetance with this so quickly? I know she won't eat on Clavamox and has diarrhea from it so I have resisted even trying amoxi-tabs in the past. I would like to hear your experiences please.

Many antibiotics do this.

After giving an antibiotic, which takes out bad AND good bacteria, it may help to give some good bacteria a couple hours later. Ex FortiFlora, a teaspoon of plain yogurt with active cultures, etc.

Also, if you're not already doing so, you want to follow up any dry pills with water as they can cause acid reflux and other issues.

it is possible that she could be allergic to amoxicillin. and fyi - clavamox contains amoxicillin.

I know this cause maui is allergic and can't take either drug.

Hey, Allie!

No helpful information, unfortunately, I just wanted to say hi and wish a quick recovery for poor NewKitty. Does Albon fix urinary tract infections, I wonder? I've mixed it in the canned food for one of my ferals, and he doesn't seem to object to it.

I hope she's back to normal again SOON!

I know Albon is used for coccidia infections (parasites) but I'm not too sure how it would work for bacterial or other types of infections.

I just asked about the Albon (we use the liquid, which has a sort of banana-y smell) for Burble's periodic intestinal unpleasantnesses, and two weeks ago, one of my ferals turned up with one whole cheek that was open and bloody and horrible looking, probably from an abscess. The vet said, since I already had a bottle of Albon, and there was no chance of getting pills into him, that it would be worth seeing if he'd eat the albon in his food, which he actually did - and his cheek looks pretty good, surprisingly.
