Hidey's numbers are slowly creeping up. I did change his food because they were creeping up a few weeks ago, but that was (what Im assuming) because he wasn't eating certain meals. I had to change it up because he wasn't eating certain types because since he had his upper canines removed he has a hard time eating meats like shredded chicken....although it didnt stop hi from stealing his chicken from the pot I boiled it in lol. So I changed his food because his numbers were creeping up and also I knew he was on the low side for calories to begin with then subtracting the amount he wasnt eating and I was starting to worry. I changed his food to food he was getting before but more often now and a little more calories. Hidey was only getting 206-218 calories at most before, I know he's geting more calories now but still in the correct range or so I think. Now he's getting 272-274, thats if he eats all his food. His schedule was:

Right now Im at a loss on what to do about food. I'm trying to watch the carb content closely because he seems to be very carb sensitive, then theres the fact that the vet said he's showing beginning signs of kidney disease. Im no vet but I dont see it in his labs.....labs are attached to his spread sheet. So now I have to watch the carb content and the phos and my vet said Im frying his liver with high protein so I found foods with lower protein. Further research shows there is a debate on the low/high protein for issues when it comes to the kidneys. Ive been toying with the idea of a raw food diet but I'm worried about the protein, phos, and carbs UGHHHHHH!!! Am I worrying for nothing? I know he's still below 200, and has been under 140 for a while now but I guess I'm kinda jealous looking at others numbers being no higher than 60-70 lol

Any advice is welcome.

I think you're focusing on the individual numbers a little too closely. If you look at the overall average from one week to the next, the numbers are relatively the same.

As to phosphorus, you can add binders to food if you make it raw. Otherwise, there are some low carb, low phos food lists floating around. Dr. Lisa's website even has a phosphorus chart.

Thank you. Hearing that helps a lot. My husband has been telling me the same thing. LOL he keeps telling me to lay off Hidey's ears. I can't help it, I'm so worried that I'M going to do something wrong to screw up his remission. He's doing great and acting like a kitten again. I guess I should just back away and let him be, as long as his numbers dont go up too high. Heck the other day he jumped on the kitchen counter when I was in the other room and got his chicken breast out of the cooking pot. I boil him chicken that I use as a treat for testing, I was using the freeze dried but found if I get the chicken on sale its a lot cheaper to just boil it and put it in the fridge. It was funny though because me and my husband were in the other room and one of my other cats, Hot Rod, was going crazy crying in the kitchen.....he's an eater so I thought nothing of it, until I went in the kitchen to find Hidey on the counter with the chicken out of the pot AND only half a chicken breast left lol. Basically Hot Rod was in the kitchen screaming "HEY HE'S EATING ALL THE CHICKEN!!!!!! NOT MY CHICKEN!" lol Hot Rod isnt skilled enough to get on the counters lol.

Poor Hot Rod got left out of the impromptu feast. That Hidey sure does know a good thing when he sees it though.

Yes, stop worrying so much. As long as the BG levels are still in normal range (40-120), Hidey will be fine.

I'm down to monitoring Wink 1-2 times a week. I only do the testing that often because he was giving me some high numbers a couple of months ago.
