Oh my gosh. It's been two weeks since my sweet Calley left me. I've cried almost daily for her. The house is so quiet.

Well.....quiet, except for the lapping/drinking water noises my second cat Buddy is now doing. What the....!!!!

I don't know that I can go down this diabetic road again with another cat. :(

Buddy is young...only 9 years old. He is a grey and white tabby. Was always a fat cat. He is now drinking a lot but still eating well. But he has diarrhea and is losing weight fast. His bones are easily felt and he has lost a lot of his girth.

I will be taking him in to the vet and will have one blood work done. I know it will either be diabetes(but his symptoms are different from Calley's), or hypothyroidism, or even possibly kidney disease.

Maybe I was too busy caring for Calley that I missed his weight loss?

Wish us well. Buddy needs good thoughts.

Thanks
Kristin

Diarrhea will cause increased water consumption. It may just be a GI bug needing some antibiotics or metronidazole.

Awwwww Kristin I was just thinking about your beautiful Calley this morning :bighug::bighug::bighug: Try not to panic i dont think diarrhoea is a symptom of any of those things. Hopefully its just a bug and easily fixed. Sending vines and scritches for Buddy

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss of your sweet Calley. You need some hugs, so I am sending some your way. :bighug::bighug::bighug: I went through something very similar this past summer. We lost our beautiful Daisy. And like you, I guess I was so busy watching her decline and giving her good care in those final months that I missed all the signs of something going on with Hannah. I never saw it coming. It was overwhelming when Hannah was diagnosed with diabetes at the same time Daisy was preparing to cross over Rainbow Bridge.

Please don't blame yourself for the way things unfolded. I guess it's just the way life works. The best we can do is just try to take care of the present ~~ in this case, your handsome Buddy. I know you will do your best for him.

Sending good thoughts and many prayers your way,
Carole
