Am I changing dose too much?

Hi, first of all please don't freak out at the low numbers I'm shooting Angel at. He was on a trial 2 years ago of Prozinc and I was encouraged to shoot him at 7/126 and above on an alphatak! as long as the dose was only .5 as this would give him the best chance of going otj. He did in fact go otj for over 2 years but is now out of remission. He just started insulin again last week and I'm matching the doses to his readings. Please see spreadsheet. Do you think this is ok?

I would try to stick with the 0.5 units for now until he has had a chance to settle and then try to get a curve done, those are nice low numbers and you don't want to set up a pattern of bouncing. A curve would really help to see how he is responding and at what point you need to adjust. Do you have u100 syringes as any dose changes you do make are likely to be small?

My vet has told me to stick with a dose for one week before switching, but I've been told here in the forum that this isn't necessary. I've also been told here with Prozinc to shoot based on the glucose number and that the dose may not always be the same. I'm more likely to listen to the forum in this situation.

It's that darn Every Cat is different thing...some cats do well with the sliding scale - changing the dose based on the preshot number. Some cats seem to do better with the same dose for several days before a change. IMHO, having a cat sit in high numbers for a week is too long. We generally say 6 cycles or 3 days.

I had a chat with the vet today and we decided to go for a .50 dose and a 7/126 no shot limit. Feel more confident now x
