I've just got a new batch of strips from the vet for my Alphatrak 2. I have noticed tonight that the code is different to the one my alphatrak is calibrated to.

Obviously now I know they differ I will recalibrate - never thought to look before - but other than through testing Sky again now and with it recalibrated is there any way to tell what the difference between glucose numbers is or if there is one? I started using them this morning and was surprised at how much she had increased overnight.

Thanks :)

With AT2 strips you should change the code everytime you get a new container with a different number. There was a person on here before that didn't notice the new code and used the previous code for 3 days and there was no real difference in the numbers. But always best to change to the new code.

The higher number could be a bounce from hitting lower numbers during the night. With a 182 PMPS it is possible the numbers dropped down into the greens through the evening cycle. It is always good to try to get a mid cycle test if possible

There are four cat codes we are aware of (08, 37, 38, and 93). The codes are based on batch testing of the strips to see which code will provide the most accurate readings closest to animal lab values. I doubt very much that the algorithms for each of these codes differ by much so I would not expect to see a substantial difference in readings. I'd be far more suspect of readings if the meter inadvertently got set to a dog or other code.

Thanks, I've recalibrated. Don't want to test too much as she really hates it and they are expensive :)

Add 92 to the cat codes. My last batch of strips have 92 for cats and 93 for dogs on the bottle. I am in the US if that may make a difference in the strips purchased.

if you have the control solution you could test with that to see if it's reading higher/lower than average
