Last post 8/22, I need to be more active on here but I’ve been having a lot to take care of and pain flares and other stuff. Alice took the 1.25u reduction and we also had just started a new pen, I was not well that morning so human picked one of the expired pens when we needed a new one. They seem to work fine still so I’ll finish this pen unless it causes problems, or if I can’t keep it cold enough at least it will be okay to throw out.

The OKC metro has tens of thousands out of power and lots of storm damage from high winds, so it could be awhile before we get our power.... or not. I’m not sure what priority I am. But my town doesn’t have total power loss so I will find a friend to store my spare unopened pens with I think, this time.

I’m asking my family member to freeze her cold packs that cone with her humira, and that way I can have more coldness for the pen stored here. We are so broke right now though and going to lose food and I can only buy the cat food and hay we need.

But really Alice is pretty healthy! She chased a fly in bed this morning!!!!! :D I’m going to get her bloodwork I think next month at the 3 month mark from her cancer removal.

Hope all are well. :bighug:

So besides my microwave being blown from a power surge, my refrigerator is acting wonky. I have partial power and I don’t even know why I have power back in one room only! In the kitchen. But we unplugged the refrigerator because the sides between the French doors were hot. It was odd. I am getting freezer packs from family member though and she will have a styrofoam cooler her medicine gets shipped in, too, plus my insulated lunch bag type thing, plus inside the silver insulated bubble mailer..... And I’m leaving the extra pens with family. I don’t think we are getting power back tonight and even if we do I think some of my wiring may be damaged. It’s so hard to do testing in near darkness!

I’m also worried about the fact that I can’t refrigerate opened cans of food. I guess styrofoam cooler will work for that too.

Unplug all electronic devices and anything that has a computer chip in it (stove, newer kettle, toaster, tv ...). What you do use, plug into a surge protector bar.

We have unplugged everything but the stove because we can still use it, in theory (gas). It is too late to save the microwave and the refrigerator we won’t know about until the power is fully restored.

You are doing so well and so much for Alice. You are truly inspirational!

If it’s worth anything, I feed Ming covered food up to 24 hours after I’ve opened it. Sometimes I’m just too lazy to go to my fridge  No GI issues so far but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Thank you. :) I have lids for the cans and and so they are always covered, but if it sits for a bit too long they reject it sometimes. Also when it turns that nasty funky gray oxidized color. Yuck. If I ate meat I would not want to eat it when it reaches that point. ‍♀️
So for now since there are 4 cats, I figured they can all eat Alice’s food too, they eat nearly the same thing usually anyway, and then I can get through each can a lot faster because my Ginger Boys are chonkers. It is more cost effective for me to get the large (13 oz?) cans of friskies for everyone to lose but Alice’s doesn’t chicken and liver come in that size!
That is still a comfort to know I’m not the only one. Lol. I also think they don’t like their food refrigerator cold. :p

But..... in the ongoing saga, in vague pain today personally, power came on last night but was weak, the lights kept dimming out. So I turned off everything but the air so the house would be comfortable. Now it’s completely off again. :banghead: No hot water. House is a mess. Hard to clean and do things. Still over 30,000 without power from my power company alone, and my outage area was originally reported at least 30 hours ago. I know it happens to us all sometimes but it gets so hot and muggy here, especially this week!

I don’t even know why I have power back in one room only! I

Do you have a circuit breaker Box in your house? ( It's not possible to have power to only one room. ) The other rooms circuits may need to be reset at your circuit breaker box. The circuits may have been interrupted from a power surge.
Do you have ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets in your bathroom or kitchen? Sometimes they need to be reset also , they usually have a small red button that needs to be pushed back in.

Best of luck to you! I hope your power is back soon.
Good to hear Alice is doing OK.

Hope your power comes back on soon! We were without power at work all yesterday afternoon, but it never went off at my house. Probably from the same storm that you got. Glad to hear Alice is feeling good!

Found out yesterday evening that the power was not grounded at all and we had 240 instead of 120 power coming in. It’s possible a LOT of stuff is ruined. We don’t know yet because they haven’t replaced our transformer. Still over 10,000 metro area without power. Down from nearly 100,000.

Joy, I did have an issue before with the kitchen receiving power when another circuit was not. I just can’t temember what was explained to me at the time!

Right now it doesn’t matter because we have absolutely NO power coming through at all. I’m probably going to just throw this pen away when we get everything fixed. (It was an expired one to start with so I won’t cry about it. It’s not staying cold enough with the ice packs and insulated box and everything else.) Alice has been running a bit high. It’s going to be in the 90s today.

Sorry I know normally I should start a new condo for each day. It’s just a mess this week! We are keeping Alice safe, still going. I am needingvto ahift focus to my other female, who is nearly 12, and lost a lot of weight this summer she spent mostly outside. Her fur is taking on a reddish tint and she is getting more white hairs too (black cat). She’s eating the same usually LC wet foods as everyone else, plus a little kibble to encourage feeding. Now I’ve taken to crumbling dried duck liver over her food to encourage feeding as well.

Hope everyone has a good day today! I hope life gets more normal for me again next week so I can come back on here and check in on everyone properly. <3

Power made its way back on! So glad because today got very hot!

I think the appliances are mostly fine but the refrigerator door is getting hot again so that I am not sure about yet. Which means unfortunately I can’t buy groceries yet either. Or pick up my extra pens from my family.

PMPS tonight is yellow.
I scheduled blood work/3-month post-cancer removal check-up for 9/9. I’m not sure what bloodwork should be done specifically yet, but I also wanted help palpating around the remainder of the mammary chains, etc. Since tumor was grade 2 and there is chance of metastasis.....

But she was happy and purry and so is everyone else. I think we are all the best we could be for our circumstances! :)

be sure to check with your electricity provider to see if they offer any recompense for the unexpected 220/240 volt service rather than 120 -- and see if they can or will inspect the wiring at the breaker box (as a courtesy, ie FREE)to see if the overvoltage did any addition damage there

(yes we usually pull the cord on the fridge when power goes out, we put it on a short heavy duty extension cord accessible from the adjacent counter since the outlet for most refrigerators is behind it, at floor level -- yes it needs to be looked at as well)

Cassandra, your positive attitude in spite of all this is truly inspiring! Hugs to you and your sweet Alice! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
